Ever said LOL outloud?
As IRL, around other people?
I have, once, and I didn't like it. Fucking Internet. :) |
Wow.. what a loser :p
jk, but no, never |
Its been on the tip of my toungue before... always caught myself before I said it though. Thought to myself "Did I almost say LOL? WTF!?!?"
|
I always think lol but never say lol... I say r0x0r and |-|/\x0|2 and 1337 but never lol. I have said roflmao... it sounded stupid.
|
No.
I knew this girl that did it all the time. I wanted to slap her every time she said it. |
I did it by mistake once. Haven't since then.
|
Never in public...
You know.. most of the time when I say LOL, I didn't really LOL.. My life is such a big lie! LOL... ... |
No, I haven't...
But since I see the "WTF?" appearing more often, I do use "what the fuck" to characterize extremely odd situations... But I don't say W-T-F, I say the words completely... |
Ya I have, because it's a joke around here when we do it. I've never said it when I really was laughing though..thankfully
|
Yup said it around my mom. She just looked at me blankly like I'd had a barin fart and whatever I'd said made no sense. I had to explain. She still though it was nonsense to even type that. That's my computer illiterate mom. ;)
|
I say all of those kinds of things as a joke, usually in a really mocking or sarcastic tone, when me and friends are having a laugh about "1337 culture" and script kiddies.
|
Never. I hardly ever type out "lol" anymore. It kind of annoys me now to a certian extent. I tend to use "lmao" more, but even then not so much so. When I first started chatting a few years back I used "lol" in nearly every sentance. I was looking back at some emails from a friend from 2 years ago, and my message had so many "lol"'s in it... Ugh.
|
I catch myself thinking it sometimes...grrr. Wrote it on a birthday card once, too...oops.
|
No. But then again, I generally type in proper English anyway, so I wouldn't. Even when I'm chatting, I don't use acronyms, tho somtimes i use fake contractions or let the odd typo sldie.
How did you pronounce 'lol'? Did you say L-O-L, or did you say it like the start of lolly-pop? |
yes, but its always as a joke or making fun of some one

I've never said "LOL" out loud, but I have said the following out loud, because they are funny or useful on their own:
wtf? Net - "What the fuck?" IRL omgwtfbbq! Net - "Oh my god (pause).. what the fuck (pause)... barbeque." IRL because it sounds funny as shit and few people know what the hell you're talking about. |
After playing EQ for so many years and constantly referring to situations "IRL", I find myself saying "in real life" in spoken conversations about people or things. It's completely sub-concious, and only with my gaming friends.
e.g. I've been playing Dynasty Mode on NHL 2004, acting as GM for the Canucks. I worked during the game last night, and afterword I called up my friend and we talked about how the Canucks didn't just lose, they lost in real life. Man I'm cool  |
I say "Shrug" a lot...online that translates to ::shrug::
Other than that though, "WTF" comes out sometimes too. Never LOL though. |

I've said it as a joke before

I remember looking back at some old IRC chat logs from "back in the day" and wonder why anyone would bother to carry on a conversation with me. I was also like 13 or 14 at the time, so I'm sure that had a lot to do with it. |
hrm...I've not said it _out loud_...but I think it quite a lot.
(It's been my fear of pronounching it wrong that has held me back, methinks...is it 'lol'lypop or 'lo(w)l'y?) I oft say 'what the fuck' (but not wtf) and 'meh'. I dunno, 'LOL' in written form doesn't really bug me...I like some acronyms. Efficiency is a positive thing, methinks. ;) |
lol...
cant say i have ever even thought about using that in real life.... |
Since when is "What the fuck?" netspeak?
I say that plenty, and did long before I used the net. Why are people mentioning that? (obviously saying "WTF" is different). |
i've thought it before, but i don't think I've ever actually spoken it.
|
My friends and I usually say "rofllmao" in place of laughing sarcasticly. We'll through in "lol" every now and then.
|
I've said "lol" and "lmao" and once I think I've said "rofl" and yeah..I'm not proud of it either....
|
I have.. not many times though.. my biggest non-irl saying has to be omg though.. My girlfriend and I say this constantly.
|
can not lower my standards enough to type it, much less say it.
|
no. in RL i'd actually be laughing out loud, not reciting 3 letters.
duh |
its slipped out a number of times.
in front of my completely computer illiterate friends, it had no meaning, they looked at me funny, then continued the conversation. |
I just laugh really hard, that's what LOL is suppose to stand for...right?
|
yes... but then again "lol" is also a dutch word signifying "fun" so nobody notices it when I mean L.O.L
|
I don't even type it, so no
|
I've said it once, but that was back when I typed it as well. I stopped typing it about 2 years ago when I realized how stupid it was to say "lol" when you weren't actually doing it. Now people have the "lolooolololooool" variations of it and I go out of my way to not say it. :)
-Lasereth |
I said it intentionally in a discussion about computers.
|
I've done it once or twice....and it was kinda weird.

The only computer acronym that I use in speech is RTFM. |

/me hides head in shame... |
Nope, never have come close to saying that. But I don't type it either, so that's probably why. I am kind of annoyed by people who do type it excessively. I like WTF, though. I type that sometimes, but I actually say that all the time. Fuck is my favorite word.
|
I couldn't vote, because you didn't have a "yes, so what?" (or something to that effect) option.
Ya, I have a few times, but I just laught at it. |
Came so close, Nearly commit seppeku afterwards. I must get outside more.
|
i didnt vote because it didnt have my option
"yes i say lol outloud and theres nothing wrong with it" |
I have been guilty of saying it a few times. Almost said rofl once too.

It's just that "what the fuck" is just THE perfect expression when something totally unexplainable happens. You'll also pronounce it slowly. I'll just say it because it reminds me of the way it is used in the hotel scene in Boondock Saints. That scene has an extreme WTF feeling to it :) |
I've said "loll" once and got some funny looks. I've never actually said "ellmayo" or "rawfull". I hope it never slips out!

And, no, I never have. |
roffle-mayo is how it's pronounced. Never said "LOL" or any similar acronym out loud :D
|
I've said LOL (pronounced loll), ROFL (roffle) OMG (ohmm-g), and WTF (whir-te-fuh), all in conversation with my mates who understand these things.
|
I laugh or say haha I laugh at that.
|
I've said LOL outloud before, even in public I guess!
But then, i'm lucky to be living in the dutch-speaking part of Belgium where the word "lol" also means "joke", so people could still interprete it in that way, therefor i don't look like a real geek... |
Yep, I've definitely said LOL on many occasions in public, also OMG. I guess I'm a loser.
|
lolololollmaoalolowtflololroflmalololfrofllroflrofllololol
I only speak 1337 IRL FEF!! |
I've never said LOL out loud IRL but last night night I did say,"WTF?" at dinner with my mom... the real funny thing about it was she responded with, "What does that mean? What the Fuck?"
|
Something i don't get: do you then actually say "double u, Tee, Eff" ???
Isn't it just shorter to say "whatthefuck", it's shorter to type WTF, but to spell it out loud, .... i don't know... ... strange |
