SICK....just HORRIBLE

MIAMI, Florida (AP) -- An eighth-grader found slain in a middle school bathroom was stabbed at least 40 times, and wounds on his hand indicate he may have tried to fend off the attack, the medical examiner's office said.

In findings released Thursday, Miami-Dade County officials said most of the wounds 14-year-old Jaime Gough suffered were to his face and neck. Seven were on his right hand.

"The medical examiner's report is just devastating for Jaime's family," said their attorney, Lee Marks. "The stab wounds to his hands make it apparent that Jaime fought, and that makes it even more difficult."

The victim, described as a good student who liked baseball and played the violin and flute, was found bleeding to death February 3 in a boys' restroom at Southwood Middle School in affluent, suburban Palmetto Bay.

Police say Michael Hernandez, also 14, gave a detailed confession on the day of the killing. As a juvenile charged as an adult, he could be sentenced to life in prison if convicted of first-degree murder. He has pleaded not guilty.

Hernandez's attorney, Richard Rosenbaum, did not return a phone message seeking comment Friday. John Spencer, a psychologist on the boy's defense team, said the number of wounds indicates "the severe disturbance of the person who inflicted them."

Miami-Dade County school officials declined to comment.

SAN ANTONIO, Texas (AP) -- A teenager was dragged under a car, run over twice and killed in an altercation between six rival gang members outside a high school, authorities and witnesses said.

Police said Thursday's fight might have started because one gang entered another gang's territory looking for girls.

Parent Audrey Gover was dropping off her daughter and witnessed the fight.

She said some of the men then climbed into a red Chevrolet Monte Carlo to leave when 18-year-old Michael Hinojosa, jumped in front of the car. The vehicle lurched forward, trapping him under the front bumper, Gover told the San Antonio Express-News. Hinojosa's friends got into a second car and chased the Monte Carlo.

Hinojosa was dragged screaming the length of three football fields.

He fell from the bumper, and the driver sped away, rolling over him. The pursuing car also ran over Hinojosa. The young man was pronounced dead at a hospital.

Police said Hinojosa's friends lost control of their car and flipped the vehicle about a mile away.

Police had made no arrests late Thursday. However, a murder warrant was issued for Jesse James Leal, 17.

The Monte Carlo was found abandoned.

good god, the world is going to hell.....based off of all the shit i've been hearing in the news in the past months, coupled with shit like this, the world is digging itself closer and closer to the pits of hell every day. thats just my humble opinion.

Kaos 04-09-2004 12:25 PM

I'm practically speechless and I am truly sickened by the depths of violence people and especially children are causing.

My prayers for Jaime's family.

Psivage 04-09-2004 12:51 PM

First one was sad, second one I really don't gang members, if they want to live that way of live, it is their own fault. And you know if they get caught they lawyer is going to argure that is was the second car that killed him.

i can't possibly say any more.

I think people are the same evil things that they have always been. With the Internet and information age, the only difference is that now we know about all the horiffic things that happen all over the world, as opposed to them being known only locally.

It still hurts to read about the children, though.

Bad News Sells. Our crime rate now is no more than it was 20 years ago.

txlovely 04-09-2004 01:03 PM

You know, it's because kids these days listen to too much Howard Stern. Good thing our government is taking control of that problem with all this regulation and censorship!

sarcasm, sarcasm...

HERE HERE! I say make the little perpetrators watch nothing but Barney and the Teletubbies, 24/7, for two solid years. That'll knock the fight outta them. ;)

Seriously, I know that crime itself hasn't gone up, but what about the violent shit like this. I know that it gets a lot more press now than it used to, but we didn't have gangstas, and wannabes, when I was groing up in the 70's. We didn't have anything even close to the kind of crap that my daughter tells me about every day from school. Back then...we actually feared/respected authority figures.

Yes.

As a society we just keep sinking lower and lower and lower...

mingusfingers 04-09-2004 01:55 PM

I think the deal is, more people = more crazy people. I think this is just statistics.

kutulu 04-09-2004 02:13 PM

Everyone has a sick fetish with hearing the daily damage report. I feel for the kid who was stabbed, but the gangbanger brought it upon himself. It doesn't justify his death or make it any less sick, but he didn't have to be there or even get in front of the car.

Because back then authority figures could do something. Now-a-days if a parent even yells at their child in a store because they're misbehaving people are all over them.

I remember stories my dad told me when he was in school of when the vice principle would slap a kid around if he fucked up, and half the time the kid would beg him not to tell his parents because he knew it would be worse at home.

Now-a-days, there's no punishment in schools, let alone at home. Hell, a large amount of parents just don't care. Those are the useless fucks that a responsible.

Prince 04-09-2004 02:25 PM

In the first article, it says the kid gave a detailed confession.

And then in court he pleads not guilty.

I love this legal system.

BigGov 04-09-2004 02:27 PM

Just because he pled not guilty doesn't mean he'll get off. Look at the bright side, at least he can be punished more when he pleads not guilty.

04-09-2004 02:28 PM

DAAAAAAAAMMNN... kids these days..

KellyC 04-09-2004 02:29 PM

First story..so sad.

Second story....good riddance, one less gangster causing trouble.

The first story reminds me of this kid in my little brother's Middle School who was beaten to death by some other kids in the football field last year. The school is only a 5 minute walk from my house....

Strange Famous 04-09-2004 02:29 PM

I personally dont feel that trying to attach some social comment or agenda to this atrocity is appropriate... all I can say is that this is a very sad story.

I agree. Shit like this happens. Shit like this has always happened. It's tragic, but not unheard of. We are not crumbling as a civilization nor as a "moral" society.

Gortexfogg 04-09-2004 02:48 PM

News like this takes most of the momentum out of my day. It's just unsettling stuff.

No, no, no. Teletubbies are the spawn of the ultra-liberal homosexual lobby and aim to make all kids gay. I mean, look at Tinky Winky's color. And you can cut the sexual tension between Barney and Baby Bop with a knife. We can't let our children watch that heresy, can we?

Ace_O_Spades 04-09-2004 03:34 PM

Just a few months ago some gang warfare erupted in a Richmond school involving people with machetes... it is scary, even up here in peaceful Canada

qtpye4u84 04-09-2004 09:02 PM

He pleaded not guilty How does he think killing a kid makes you not guilty. The poor little kid, hes the age of my little sister.
How come a teacher did not hear or did not notice blood on a kids from stabbing a kid if the teachers would of heard some thing the kid would be still alive If i was the parents I would sue the kid that killed my kid for the rest of his life to make him remember what he did for the rest of his life.
Wow......
I would make the school have some one patrol the halls like in my middle school there was always a cop or a hall monitor.
THis is the worst thing I have ever heard of. I am so pissed.
Gangs Suck they make me mad too why cant the police arrest ppl in gangs or what not.

flamingdog 04-10-2004 06:21 AM

Would it be out of line for me to point out the kid still has the right to a fair trial?

I agree with you filtherton. Two examples of atrocities shouldn't impugn the character of the rest of the 300 million people in this country.

It's been going on for ages. People in europe used to kill people and throw their bodies into bogs. Incans had their elaborate human sacrifices as did the Aztecs

I'm not really sure where "these days" comes in. Because sadly, I think that it's human nature to kill one another.

According to US statistics the Murder rate is going down although it's questionably higher than it was in the 1950's.

There's a breakdown of murder statistics here:

http://www.ojp.usdoj.gov/bjs/homicide/hmrt.htm#longterm

Notice that you are far more likely to be murdered if you are a male between 18-24.

I so hope you are kidding here.

I truly feel bad for the kid and family in the first story. There is no words that can bring sense to this tragedy.

As far as gangs go, kids have the option to either do something with their lives, or join a gang. If they choose gang, I don't think there should be leniency because they are just kids. They are making adult decisions by killing, they should be treated as adults.

Cynthetiq 04-12-2004 12:13 PM

it's same news story different date, different city.

we have a proccupation with harming our fellow human beings.

Esoteric 04-12-2004 04:44 PM

Damn, that is some pretty fucked up shit. I really don't know what to say. :\

Rangsk 04-12-2004 08:11 PM

I believe he's pleading not guilty because he will try and get off on an insanity plea. Not sure exactly how that works, but if he pleads guilty, they won't get a chance to prove his insanity.

He most definetly has the right to a fair trial, but the child he attacked should have had a fair chance at life.

Also, blame whoever and whatever, it is still the individual who makes the choice. I listen to some harder music, could be considered death metal, and play violent video games alot, own a movie collection where 99% of them are rated R and contain a decent amount of voilence but you don't see me stabbing kids or running over gangsters, or even allowing my outward image be altered by my 'hobbies'. Maybe I am just an exception, maybe I am perfect, but most likely not.

Stupid kids.

InTeGrA77 04-14-2004 06:14 AM

My god...sometimes I wonder what the world's coming to these days. I hope that they catch every single one of them and give their punk asses the fuckin chair!

I can't beleive that they were dragging that kid for the length of THREE football fields...thats really really far. I can't imagine what it must have been like to witness the whole thing firsthand. I suppose that something like this happens almost every single day, and the violence rate of kids that age is constantly skyrocketing, but I wish that there was something that we could do to put a stop to it....

Jesus Pimp 04-14-2004 07:07 AM

Kids can be more evil and cruel than adults.

bender 04-15-2004 07:54 AM

What's wrong with the world, mama
People livin' like they ain't got no mamas
I think the whole world addicted to the drama
Only attracted to things that'll bring you trauma
Overseas, yeah, we try to stop terrorism
But we still got terrorists here livin'
In the USA, the big CIA
The Bloods and The Crips and the KKK
But if you only have love for your own race
Then you only leave space to discriminate
And to discriminate only generates hate
And when you hate then you're bound to get irate, yeah
Badness is what you demonstrate
And that's exactly how anger works and operates
N**, you gotta have love just to set it straight
Take control of your mind and meditate
Let your soul gravitate to the love, y'all, y'all

People killin', people dyin'
Children hurt and you hear them cryin'
Can you practice what you preach
And would you turn the other cheek

Father, Father, Father help us
Send us some guidance from above
'Cause people got me, got me questionin'
Where is the love (Love)

Where is the love (The love)
Where is the love (The love)
Where is the love
The love, the love

It just ain't the same, always unchanged
New days are strange, is the world insane?
If love and peace is so strong
Why are there pieces of love that don't belong
Nations droppin' bombs
Chemical gasses fillin' lungs of little ones
With the ongoin' sufferin' as the youth die young
So ask yourself is the lovin' really gone
So I could ask myself really what is goin' wrong
In this world that we livin' in people keep on givin'
in
Makin' wrong decisions, only visions of them dividends
Not respectin' each other, deny thy brother
A war is goin' on but the reason's undercover
The truth is kept secret, it's swept under the rug
If you never know truth then you never know love
Where's the love, y'all, come on (I don't know)
Where's the truth, y'all, come on (I don't know)
Where's the love, y'all

People killin', people dyin'
Children hurt and you hear them cryin'
Can you practice what you preach
And would you turn the other cheek

Father, Father, Father help us
Send us some guidance from above
'Cause people got me, got me questionin'
Where is the love (Love)

Where is the love (The love)
Where is the love (The love)
Where is the love
The love, the love

I feel the weight of the world on my shoulder
As I'm gettin' older, y'all, people gets colder
Most of us only care about money makin'
Selfishness got us followin' our own direction
Wrong information always shown by the media
Negative images is the main criteria
Infecting the young minds faster than bacteria
Kids want to act like what they see in the cinema
Yo', whatever happened to the values of humanity
Whatever happened to the fairness in equality
Instead in spreading love we're spreading animosity
Lack of understanding, leading lives away from unity
That's the reason why sometimes I'm feelin' under
That's the reason why sometimes I'm feelin' down
There's no wonder why sometimes I'm feelin' under
Gotta keep my faith alive till love is found

People killin', people dyin'
Children hurt and you hear them cryin'
Can you practice what you preach
And would you turn the other cheek

Father, Father, Father help us
Send us some guidance from above
'Cause people got me, got me questionin'
Where is the love (Love)

Where is the love (The love)
Where is the love (The love)
Where is the love (The love)

Where is the love (The love)
Where is the love (The love)
Where is the love (The love)
