airbrush advice / site?
Yo! In much the same way I got into pottery, cartooning, and writing, I'm jumping into airbrushing with no frickin idea how to go about it. I am now the proud owner of an airbrush and an air compressor. The problem is, I know next to nothing about how to use this fine artistic instrument.
Can anyone point me towards a good site to visit/book to read/store for supplies? Thanks! ...my life is so odd. With a nothing more than spraypaint, I flamed a few mailboxes and started doing artsy-fartsy work on garage cabinets. Nest thing I know, someone gives me an airbrush, because they think I'd be good with it. I'm afraid that someday someone may see me pulling a splinter out of my hand, and hand me a bag of surgical tools...because you KNOW if I got them, I'd just HAVE to start using them. |

but i dont have any ideas on the airbrushing... |
I am similarly intrested, Iv been looking at buying an airbrush and compressor to do paintings. I do alot of watercolor, pencil and acyrilic but the softness of airbrushing looks quite appealing. Let us know how it goes and if you can I would love to see some of your airbrushed artwork.

I don't know what style of airbrushing you wish to get into but Airbrush Action magazine is always full of good articles and tips.
They also put out a line of books and videos that appear to be quite good. I'm also trying to learn airbrushing, and since my tastes lean towards flaming skulls and crazy charicatures, I picked up Craig Fraser's Automotive Cheap Tricks and SFX (both the book and video). It's very informative for the type of art I'm trying to learn, and is full of good ideas and information. If you're at all interested in that facet of airbrushing, I recommend it. (Also, it's good even if you don't actually intend to airbrush actual cars--it teaches how to apply kustom schemes to guitars, boats, sign blanks, license plates, cats, whatever) |
