umm... i think the best place to start would be with a history of the united states.
accepting anyone else's interpretations of conservatism, and its affects, is setting yourself up to be another sheep in the political society of this country.

From what I recall there are two defenitions of "conservatism" as a political ideology, one basically opposes all change, with a "if its not broke then don't fix it" mentality. Another basically says, conservatives have to change their opinions to better reflect the modernising world.
PS: Wikipedia always has the goods imo, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Conservatism

Nonetheless, AfterBurn, could you give us some more info here? If you're asking us to do your homework, well, that's not gonna happen But if you're looking for help on how to do research on this "conservatism" - which it seems to me there are many different thoughts about what you mean by that - then let us know what you mean by "conservatism" and what kind of info you're looking for. Otherwise, as you can see, this thread is going nowhere

I'll never forget a few years back, my girlfriend at the time and I were taking a college course on philosophy, and it got into politics a little. One time after class, she asked me to explain more about the difference between capitalism and socialism. I obliged, started trying to explain the basics, and she interrupted to say "Wait. I thought socialism is better because it's, like, good to be social." She was actually one of the brighter girls I've known, too. |

Google is your friend, believe me. Now if you would like to know my opinions on conservatism, that's cool, but I, like the others on this board, aren't going to do your homwork for you. Also, in the time that you have taken to bother to ask about conservatism here and reply to posts, you probably could have already gotten a great deal of objective research compiled up for yourself.
