Undying hair?
 

Is there anyway to undye your hair after dying? like if you messed up and used the wrong colour or something how do you return to your natrual hair colour without having to wait for weeks?

well, you bleach it and redye it with something close to your old haircolor?

gonna be stringy, strawhair you end up with probably, since bleaching it isn't exactly good for the texture

There are dyes and then there are dyes. With my lovely wife's hair (currently purple), I've learned a few things about this.

I hope this is a hypothetical question? If not, what kind of dye are we talking about? Temporary? Semi-permanent? Permanent? Each kind of dye bumps up one "type" if you use heat or prolong the application time.

Basically, any dye that isn't Permanent will fade to your natural color over time. There's not a whole lot you can do to speed that up. With more temporary dyes, you can wash your hair a bunch of times. Most temporary dyes will wash out in a dozen or so shampooings.

Nisses is right, though, if it's heavy-duty stuff, the best you're going to get if you need to be back to normal now is to bleach and re-dye.

aye, perhaps I was a bit hasty, if it's temporary or semi-permanent, you might wanna give it a little while and wash it a couple of times per day.

Also, if you've not already done it, those are a safer bet to try out various colors that the regular permanent colors.

Seriously, I have absolutely no idea. My hair has been the same color since the day I was born. My daughter, however, just dyed her's black with red highlights/streaks. I hope she likes it...'cause it's gonna be there for a loooong time.

If it's not too long (like less than 3 inches), then just let it grow out while getting haircuts. It grows faster than you might think.

The only way to do that is to dye it back to its natural colour. You can't *undye* hair.
If it is bleached, it will take the time and experience of a professional to help you get back to the natural colour- I've been there before.
Check out a salon or even a local college salon class who are really good and it costs much less than a salon. I have a friend who is just about to graduate from Hair Color and it's so nice & convenient- doesn't hurt to try.

Shave it and have another go at it.

quick question, how long do your hair stay dyed if a non permanent dye is used?

normally, it says so on the bottle? I would think it depends on the kind of dye

See a good hair care professional at a real salon. They know stuff about how to handle these things.

Be careful...I tried to strip and bleach my hair to get it back to my natural color and it turned this hideous raspberry color and started to break off. Needless to say I now have very short dark hair to cover my mistake.

For the love, go to a professional.

My stylist was telling me about a customer who tried to dye their own hair, didn't like the results, then tried another dye to cover it up... the reaction of the two different systems actually set her hair on fire. Smoke and everything.

I tried to get a haircut at a place which appeared to be open on Saturday. They weren't really open, though. They just hadn't locked the door yet.

Seems a lady with a disaster had taken them three hours to fix. She came in with, yes, pink hair. Just like in the movie Grease. They didn't make that shit up; apparently it's a known user error, with a real fix.

You can always have the color stripped out. It's costly and it fucks up your hair, but if you really hate it that much....

You can undye your hair but I think the process may take about 8 to 10 weeks depending upon it's length. But then again I'm scalp challenged so the whole need for dye doesn't mean much to me! :D

Like others have said, the best thing you can do is go to a salon and let them fix it. They'll know what products and process to use to get you back to 'normal'.

I used to dye my hair weird colors all the time.. if u use dial soap on your hair it takes out some of the pigment and makes it a lighter shade , but thats only on like semi permanent
