16 Year old faith healer in British Columbia cures cancer.
 

I have never been a big believer in faith healers, or anything of the sort, but this one is interesting.

Don't know if you know or have heard of Rompin Ronnie Hawkins, but he is from Arkansas, lives outside of Toronto, and a little while ago was diagnosed with terminal cancer.

Pancreatic Cancer in fact, which is fatal something like 99% of the time. It took my mother in fact. So I know what it can do.

Anyway, this kid contacted Hawkins and if you believe it, cured him.

Now normally, i would be very skepticle, but the kid only charges 75 bucks Canadian which is about 50 US. Hardly a big scam.

Anyway, if you know anyone dying of cancer, what do you have to loose?

Fatal 99% of the time. Even if that number is right (seems high) there's always that 1% that heals normally. It's important to remember that some guy saying "I heal you!" and the person appearing to heal doesn't prove a causal relationship, not even close.

I mean, this stuff is always going around. It's not too hard to imagine how they can appear to actually be healers, maybe even that they can believe it themselves. No actual proof, just a lot of stories about some people recovering (no mention of those that don't) and a lot of appeal to people's willingness to believe something "magic".
When one of these guys can heal people in a controlled setting, and it be proven in a scientific way that the person didn't just heal normally, then I might believe it.

People want to believe. Faith "healers" provide something that is missing to people.
But... if it makes you feel better, and its only 75 bucks...

I will never visit a faith healer no matter how sick I get. It's a waste of money on frauds who prey on people in their weakest moments. It's just sad that anyone could take advantage of another person when they are that sick. Sorry, but I don't believe anything that I hear about faith healers actually being able to cure people.

It's a death sentence.

I was told that it was a 99% thing when it happened to me.

But according to the American cancer society link below, i guess i am off. It's a 95% thing.

You know, I really wish this stuff were true, but unfortunately it's a crock, this doesn't stop those people from taking peoples money though.

Got to tell you james t, I know where you're coming from. My mother also lost her battle with pancreatic cancer and we always want to continue hoping. Acknowledging a situation rather than providing false hope is the best method. The sooner people understand and do away with those people claiming they can cure cancer, the sooner those so unfortunate to be afflicted can make the most of there time knowing their departure is soon. I think it worked.

My first girlfriend had a broken ankle, cast and all.

She went to a Christain bookstore to see her grandmother one day and a couple of women prayed over her ankle.

That same day, she took the cast off and her ankle was fine.


I don't have a scientific explanation of what happened.

I think anything is possible. People just don't want to believe the proof shown to them. I've seen curses so I have no doubt that the opposite exists..

I've heard several times from very trustworthy people that my uncle can heal all kinds of mouth sores by spitting in your mouth. Although I really don't think a sore thats going to go away in a week is worth that.

I belive strongly in the power of the mind!
It can heal.
However, this "Healer" charges money for this service?
If he has a gift, and shares it freely I could put some faith in this.
chargeing money sets off the warning bells in my head!

I have always hoped that God had some special place for low life weasels that use his name to make money.

How many people did he not heal, though? We always hear about the sucesses, but never the staggering number of people that were not healed.
Why hasn't this "healer" proven his obviously useful life saving technique in the eyes of Science? Apply the Scientific Method, man!

Same with horroscopes and tabloid predictions. They predict an event, and when the event never takes place, they just ignore that fact...but when time comes for them to tally up their record they count up the surprisngly low number of "targets" and that becomes fact.

By not showing the sucess & the faliure, we are doomed to commit the Single cell error (Psychology mumbo jumbo).

My first thought when I saw this was it sounded like a tabloid heading. I'm still not wholly convinced, but that is rather freaky...

Speaking of such ppl did anyone see the Dateline piece on Benny Hinn, I think that his name. The man lays hand on people and heals them supposed, he does all this in the name of God doesn't take money from ppl and lives a modest life. Yet in the dateline story he was on a huge cruise ship with a solid gold lighter shaped like a pen that he was lighting cigars with and other extravagant stuff.

Noaw, if'n you TRULY BELIEVE in JESUS get outa that chair and walk to the television. If'n you want to BE SAVED AND HAVE THAT OLD DEMON PAIN CAST OUT, put your hands on your television.

NOT ON THE BACK! Careful, Jesus caint be everwhere at once. Oh, and send ALL OF YUR MONEY to us care of this station and we'll be sure God gets it.

I think these faith healers are a complete and utter sham, but I can almost understend why people use them. If you're dying and are desparate enough, you'll try anything. I think if you knew that you had x amount of time to live and it was running out, all reason and logic would pretty much go out the window. Which is why I think all these faith healers should be shot on sight becaus they prey upon this delusionment.

I cannot prove he is lying. I am skeptical. I have seen my husband come out of a coma when Dr's told me he probably would be a vegetable all his life (key word probably). Many of our families and friends and extended friends and family (people in other countries even) were praying for him. Today a year and a half later he's been at his present job for 7 months, seems fine when you look at him, and is leading an happy and relatively healthy life. He has a few lingering health problems but they are under control and what would you expect from a concussion, basal skull fracture, and coma. It is amazing. Scientifically they have proven that people who take a placebo or are convinced they will heal have a much greater recovery rate. The faith that these people place in the healer gives them that confidence and hope and probably does help some people heal as a result of their own mind. There are so many possibilities. I would never go to a faith healer personally. But who knows what possibilities. We have only tapped into the beginning of what our minds and bodies can do.

In the provinces of the Philippines there are lots of faith healers... charlatans I call them...I never seen them but I have seen the methods in which they ply their trade.

Amazing that people believe these people along with the charlatan gurus of India.
