Australia couple of questions
Being way down here out of everyonescan lead to inferiority complexes. I am curious if the knowledgable people who frequent these pages could have a go at answering the following questions about your friends way down under.
1. Do you know the capital of Australia 2.The current prime ministers name? 3.We recently signed a free trade agreement with who? 4.Can you name 3 or more singers/groups who have international hits? 5.Can you name an Australian actor or director?6.Is Australia closer geographically to new zealand or to china? 7. True or false ' The population of Australia recently passed 40 million for the first time' 8.Can you name the Australian astronaut who is returning to space shortly. 9.Which is closer to Melbourne, Perth or Sydney? 10. Australia is currently playing Sri Lanka in which sport? |

Not bad - pretty close on most of those answers. I won't give anything away though yet.
Theres an amusing show on over here called CNNNN which often takes the piss of Americans. They did a skit once where they took an atlas an replaced the names of Australia and New Zealand with stuff like North and South Korea etc. It was amazing how many americans didn't think twice. Oh and by the way - we don't ride kangaroos to school!!!!!!! |

tripping up Americans with questions regarding the capital of Saskatchewan or moose-milking holidays. Thing is, they could ask about US history or geography and get as many wrong answers. Hell, we've got fifty frickin states and capitals of our own to remember. When I was in school, aside from a little European history, the geography and history of other countries was hardly touched. Not sure how it is today, but I suspect it's no better. We are left with only our news and current events sources, most of which are concerned only with which movie stars are boinking or the latest Hollywood mutual masturbation ceremony (Oscars, etc.). Most of what I've learned about other countries has come from actually travelling there. Oh, and... Canberra John Howard USA Screaming Jets,The Church,Hunters And Collectors Peter Weir New Zealand Nope, 20 million Andy Thomas - looked this up but, hey, now I know Sydney Cricket
