If you are a good person that is going to Heaven and Heaven is better then Earth, why wear a seatbelt? Yeah, life is good but wouldn't Heaven be better? Just something I've always wondered...

I've been wearing a seat belt for as long as I can remember. I tell the kids to wear them, and spank them if they take their seat belts off without exceptionally good reason before we're stopped.
I also make sure that they wear their shoulder belts correctly, actually threatening them with the thought of being cut in half by simply wearing their lap belt. I believe someone posted that you'd have to be speeding at over 90 mph to be cut in half by your lap belt, so I'll add: I don't care if the lack of seat belt will allow me to be "thrown free" of the wreckage. My hitting anything at 90 mph, even a pool full of water or a gigantic fluffy pillow full of goose down, is going to be a painful experience. |

Kostya, you're lucky to have seen the damage that cars can cause. Even at the "slow" speed of 30 miles an hour, there's a huge impact force involved. Ever wonder why gov't crash testing only occurs at 40-50 (and that's a recent change...previously, they were done at 30)? At higher speeds, no car would pass the test very well. At higher speeds, the damage just gets ridiculous.
I always wear my seatbelt. I was lucky to have parents that mandated it as a kid. Because of them, putting on a seatbelt has become subconscious. And let me say that any driving, even if you're going from the driveway to park on the street, requires seatbelts. You never know when some nut is driving like a madman down the street as you pull out. |
