Your Opposite Sex Name

I was born 31.5 years ago, back when the sex of the baby was still a mystery until it came out. As a result My parents had names for both sexes ready for my arrival. Share your opposite sex name if you know it, and if not ask your parents or say what name of the opposite sex you'd like to have.

If I was a girl I would've been...

Rebecca Ann

but you can call me Becky ;)

glasscutter43 02-18-2004 12:31 PM

My name is Kelly (male) and my sister is named Tracy. I guess these names could have worked either way. It doesn't say much for my parents imagination though.

always a loophole. :P

what girl's name would you wanted to have if you were born female?

Giant Hamburger 02-18-2004 12:59 PM

The appellation Giant Hamburger transcends gender.
If I could choose, it would be Iphigenia.

raeanna74 02-18-2004 01:16 PM

Kenneth Arnold __ Jr. My last name would have been distinctly German in origin too. My brother got the name so there still is one out there. I've always called him Kenny. All his friends and family call him Ken. I asked him a year ago if he wanted me to call him Ken too. He said he didn't want other's calling him Kenny but he WANTED me to call him Kenny, not Ken. :D I'm priveledged.

Crack 02-18-2004 01:54 PM

My name would have been Cynthia... looking back, I have never appricated being born a boy more than after hearing that...

laconic1 02-18-2004 02:11 PM

I'm pretty sure I was supposed to be Jennifer. My parents felt fairly certain they were having a girl, so they had that name ready. When they found out otherwise they dug into the family tree a little bit and came up with William.

World's King 02-18-2004 02:21 PM

I don't know what I would have been. My Mom always jokes that I would have been Shauna... my real name is Sean. So either way I would have been the same. And oddly... my sister is Adrienne... boys name would have been Adrian.

My parents suck.

skysooner 02-18-2004 02:22 PM

It would have been Chrissy if I had been a girl. My middle name is Chris, so they kept part of it anyway.

SecretMethod70 02-18-2004 02:29 PM

I *think* I would have been Nicole. Frankly I'm not sure it came up more than once if at all, and it's not important enough for me to remember well. But I think that's what it would have been.

pinklily 02-18-2004 02:33 PM

Max - then I got a little brother so the name got used after all.

SabrinaFair 02-18-2004 03:07 PM

I would have been Derek....
But they ended up naming my little brother something else (Mac) He was going to be Samantha if he were a girl.

Yalaynia 02-18-2004 03:16 PM

I was told by my mom that if I was a boy I would have had Jason as my first name and Aaron for my middle.

WarWagon 02-18-2004 03:45 PM

Parents never told me, but I was a mistake anyways. I guess Brianna would be the feminine version of Bryan?

redrum 02-18-2004 03:46 PM

Mine would have been Clista, which my younger sister is named now. Instead I am stuck with Joshua.

mew 02-18-2004 03:54 PM

My parents waited until I was born and then wanted to decide. My dad wanted to name me...it took him 2 F-ing weeks to think of something..until his friend came over to see me..his friend suggested Jessica..How original and thoughtful dad..or should I say dad's friend.

michel 02-18-2004 04:32 PM

i was supposed to be a robert, thus the middle name of roberta thank goodness you can drop it when you get married
hey redrum.......martha's got it

bparker805 02-18-2004 04:58 PM

Had I been born a girl, it wouldve been Helena. If that had happend, I dont think I would've gotten laid much. Besides, I woulda been an ugly chick.

teriaki 02-18-2004 05:22 PM

Jon Tyler, but seeing as how I wound up with a little brother, he got my "opposite sex" name.

My parents didn't know with me, either ;)

rockzilla 02-18-2004 05:33 PM

My folks took the easy way out and picked names for my brother and I that would work for either gender. His name is Dana, and I lucked out and got Chris.

onodrim 02-18-2004 05:51 PM

Well my parents knew before they picked names, so I never had a different name. But I did have a twin who was male, and his name was Jonathan (mine is Jennifer), so that probably would have been my male name.

LStanley 02-18-2004 05:53 PM

woulda been Lindsay Marie Stanley... (if I remember correctly)

tisonlyi 02-18-2004 06:02 PM

I think it was Olivia, my name is now the totally dull Allan - thanks to my penis.

Thankfully my mother's dull choice won out, or else I'd have been....

Oh the horror....

Gustaf.

RippedSock1 02-18-2004 06:26 PM

I would have been Alyssa... but I'm happier with Derek.

Gortexfogg 02-18-2004 07:05 PM

My parents would've named me Sarah had I been a girl, but it went to my younger sister instead.

Name? Who the hell cares? I now have boobies. I'm just gonna stay home and play with them all day!!!

bundy 02-18-2004 07:38 PM

although its not the direct female version of my actual name, i believe i would have been named Stephanie or Vivienne if i had been a girl.

Phaenx 02-18-2004 08:06 PM

I almost certainly would have been named Rachel, after my Fathers niece who died in a plane crash.

(edit - she was his niece, not cousin. Oops.)

sexymama 02-18-2004 08:08 PM

Joseph Bryan -- four kids, all girls so now of us got the name.

My mother was called Baby B until she was 6 months old. And she was only the 3rd of 8 children. If she was number 8 I could understand -- but 3rd!?

taliendo 02-18-2004 09:01 PM

If I were born a girl, I would have been named Stephanie Anne. I'm really really glad that I'm male.

analog 02-18-2004 09:03 PM

My parents' name for me was Spike Bozo.

No, i'm not kidding.

They had a boy name, but never had a good girl name, and didn't know what I was until i came out. Had I been female, they'd have had to pick one quick. Officially though, it was Spike Bozo until birth.

ironchefrocks 02-18-2004 09:45 PM

My parents had my name (Lori) picked out for me for both of my older brothers. Then when mom was preggers with me, due to her "advanced maternal age" (36 - when she saw that description she almost punched her doctor ;) ) she had to have an amniocentesis (sp?) so they knew I was a girl for sure. It's funny to know they really wanted a girl with my name.

Aletheia 02-18-2004 10:27 PM

I would have been Amanda if a girl.

CinnamonGirl 02-19-2004 01:50 AM

I would've been Aaron or Brandon...I don't think they'd really decided. Probably some combination of the two. Things turning out as they did, I ended up being Brandy.

Fly 02-19-2004 05:27 AM

they named me corey.................

nice and easy for them to go like this............corry or corrie.........

damn......i got a fuckin' chicks name......

Charlatan 02-19-2004 05:29 AM

I called my Mom to ask her and she told me I would have been named Jane after some grandparent or great-grandparent I never met.

ladyadmin 02-19-2004 05:42 AM

If male Rob, Robert, or Bobby Jr.

krwlz 02-19-2004 07:35 AM

My parents didnt ever find out what I was going to be, but they knew somehow... The only names they discussed were male, and the only one they picked was Keith.
