From what I read on the provider's site it is best to use 6667. Have you tried only the chat client or did you try others Ripp3r?

Ripp3r, check out a program called SocksCap.. it allows you to tunnel your programs through a socks server, no matter what they are.

I have mirc installed on my machine, but the firewall of my company has port 6667 blocked apparently

I get this error when trying to connect with the Java Client on the site :
java.net.connectexception : connection refused

weird thing is that i have at least 1 java chat that i can log into.

anyhow, it seems the only sollution for me would be to find one of those CGI chats that allows me to connect to any irc.server

since the cgi applet connects from the webserver to the irc server on port 6667 and the webserver relays the images to you over port 80.

Unfortunatly, it seems that all my CGI websites have changed into Pay to Chat . Can anyone help me with that ?

I've stopped in the chat a couple times, just need more free time to chat more often.

It may seem hard to be the new guy in the chat and not knowing anyone, but just jump right into a convo and enjoy!

a note, to people whose various providers have blocked port 6667: change the port to 6668 or 6669.
