Anyone ever had rebound headaches?
I had been taking ibuprofen for quite some time for various pains; torn labrum (shoulder cartilage) , wisdom teeth, general headaches, etc. After a while I was developing headaches several times a week, the more and more often until it was every day. I would take ibuprofen to get rid of the headaches and after a while that wouldnt work very well.
So I went to the doctor and she said I was having rbound headches from Ibuprofen. A rebound headache is basically a withdrawl but with pain instead of cravings. I havent taken any ibuprofen for over a month now and my headaches still occur. I was wondering if anyone else have had these and how long did they last?

I've had several bouts of rebound headaches over the years... Mostly the day after a migraine. (Usually the kind that cause me to lose track of how many of what kind of pill i've taken). They usually resolve quickly. If your headaches are still coming back, you should think about seeing your Dr. again.

It can happen, and last for awhile. Variation is great sadly, so at least I don't know of any way to predict when they will stop. Drink plenty of water, and try caffeine, see if that helps. Stay away from ibuprofen by all means of course

Oh boy have I ever! And it isn't ONLY with ibuprofen. It can happen with tylenol also. And they can be brutal! Not nearly as brutal as a migraine but damned close.
Since I suffer from chronic headaches and have them daily with variation in intensity, I rotate what I take for them. One day excedrin, next ibuprofen, next aspirin, next tylenol, next aleve etc. I don't take something EVERY day. If it is tolerable, I stick it out. However, the migraines...a trip to the doctor, a shot of morphine and carried off to bed. They take me out from 2 to 4 days. But yeah, rebound headaches can be a bummer!
