outdated webpages
I was surfing around the web tonight, pretty aimlessly going though different websites (like most nights) when I thought about the web page that I built when I was in high school. For a short while, I was really into learning HTML and a bit of Java and decided that I would build a web page (one of those freebies from geocities.) Well, I typed in the address (after a few minutes of searching my brain) and I was there. Minus a few images that had been dropped, the web page was pretty much intact and I was witnessing something that my 17 year old self had created.
I have to say, it was kind of freaky, seeing what I was like back then, and how much my ideas had changed -- its only been five (nearly six) years. I was wondering if any other TFP'ers had outdated web journals or anything like that; I think that it would be interesting to browse through. Its almost like coming across some old journals or notebooks that I kept during high school, and reading those almost foriegn words. The web address is www.geocities.com/broadway/stage/8624 if anyone was morbidly interested -- although, you may not laugh nearly as much as I did.

Wow, I thought I was the only one! Here is mine:
http://www.geocities.com/SiliconValley/Heights/1848/ Unfortunately, I have no clue as to what the password is and I can't seem to remove it from the net. Its the #1 search for my unique screen name; so its rather scary that someone or some potential employer will find and and be like, what the heck. Not to mention it has pictures of my old girlfriend, my wife knows about it and all though, she thinks its funny. Anyway I think it aged kind of well, although some of my views have definately changed. |

I didn't have the Internet when I was in high school and University but my friends and I created our own 'zine (the cut and paste type).
I was cleaning out the basement and came across a the three issues we put out as well as the drafts for issue Four. It was facinating to see what I was writing in those days...

lol, I too thought I was the only one.
My first site was utterly horrible. Back then (15/16) I was all into the Dune series and just basically a jackass. I also had my private little philosophies which I believed to be the pinnacle of human intelligence. lol. I just read several of them again and it really is interesting to see how much of an intellectual snob I was and how self-absorbed I was. My reasoning and logic was also quite twisted. Then again, I was a teenager. :P My second one was MUCH better, I'm actually not even that ashamed of it eventhough I was 17 when I made it, guess that's because I am now only 19 :P Plus my current site is a mess too seeing as I am working on it but constantly lack the time to work on it properly.... So compared to that one, my second one isn't even that bad, it even works nicely under Mozilla. BTW: Charlatan, your avatar disturbes me, typing this reply I had to look at it for some time and it's made me nervous. lol

There have been many a time when I wished I still had my origional website that I made when I was about 15 and got all into html. I don't remember half the code now, and a lot of the stuff I had on there I don't have anymore. It used to be all stored on my parents' computer (since that was the only computer in our household 6 years ago) but their HD crashed at some point and it fell into the void.
