It's claimed another...
I have lost another friend to Breast Cancer today.
I've been expecting it. It's not a surprise, but it's about the finality of it. I haven't seen her since I got laid off in 2000. She worked with many of us because of her position so lots of people know her in the company. When I came back in March 2003 she had already gone out on long term disability and never returned to the office. I'm saddened by this because she was a nice woman, a friend, a co worker. Skogafoss worked with her a few years ago, and enjoyed her company. Please donate to the cause. Fund Free Mammograms - click here Please DO NOT use this thread to say,"Sorry man." et. al. I will delete all those types of posts. Please click the link so that others can get early detection and hopefully not suffer the same fate as yet another of my friends. As a woman I always hate to read about these kinds of things because it gets me to thinking about myself. Breast cancer is prevelant on my mothers side of the family and I have been having to have mamograms since I was 25 (mainly because the onset of it with my cousins happened in their 20's). A mamogram is not a comfortable thing, I dont know many medical tests that are, especially as I am a very large breasted woman (DD Cup) and squishing them suckers for them to get an xray is well...downright painful sometimes, but it is worth it. Im 36 and so far have been really fortunate that nothing aside from a few benign cysts (they say caused my too much caffiene probably) have been found.
Breast Cancer doesnt necessarily have to claim a life, I encourage all women out there to make sure to have their mamograms done, early detection saves lives. that said...Im sorry for your loss Cynthetiq, I will keep you and her family in my thoughts today.

I'm very sorry about your loss. Both parents of mine are recovering from cancer
Make sure you educate your famale friends about the dangers of heart disease -- much more likely to kill them (both of my grandmothers)

all cancers are awful, and I urge ALL women to check themselves and get a yearly mammogram, even the young ladies.
here's some links to info and action. http://www.breastcancer.org/001.php http://www.bcaction.org

So sorry!
More research is needed and necessary. I take part in the yearly "race for the cure." Thanks MrFlux for doing your part. Currently my aunt is going through chemo for breast cancer. Ever bit helps.
