What is going on lately... it seems to be some kind of epidemic or something. This is so sad. It's all about retaliation... I'd kick her ass.

I don't think that we have a social concience anymore and the concequences of our actions are no longer an issue. Kids today just don't seem to give a shit about thier fellow man and everything is about personal wants or needs no matter how deviant.

Such is the result of a victimist society. It isn't the girl's fault she stabbed the other child, nope society is to blame.
Episodes such as this will continue to happen until everyone picks up their responsibilities and is accountable for their action, or lack thereof. [warning] I apologize for the rambling. |

Where has all the morality in our society gone?
Just becasue we, as a society, have chosen not to believe in God, doesn't mean that we can just stop ignoring "godly" values. There has to be some absolutes, some rights and wrongs, and parents have to be resposible for teaching their children these things. I feel sorry for both children in the news story above. |

My god, what IS the world coming to??
I can't beleive that they just did it at random?! There had to be at least SOME connection between the two. And if there wasn't, then that kid has some serious problems!

I agree with sixate for once, she probably is a drug addict. But drugs that her doctor gave her to make her "better" and she skipped her dose.
I blame prison movies. Damn those shanking other inmate scenes...see what it does to our youth!!?!?!? |

She thinks that's funny? Let's introduce her to Mr. Smith of Florida and see if she still thinks its all *so* funny...
Let's see if random crime is funny when you're on the receiving end. Then, let's allow Mr. Smith to become someone's girlfriend.

I'm not going to get into this discussion too heavily, because I always end up getting foamy at the mouth and inarticulate (joke =P ) when I hear people blame "violent video games" for things, but I'm just going to say that you're generalizing, and that's not fair to anyone involved. Oh, and blaming violence on something like music or video games is a cop-out. ~~ Slightly relevant link concerning the moral character of video gamers: http://www.penny-arcade.com/childsplay/ Gabe and Tycho, who write the internet comic Penny Arcade, organized an online toy drive for the Seattle Children's Hospital. In a month, the community of readers donated hudreds of thousands of dollars worth of toys and $27,000 cash to the hospital. You know, the hospital that HELPS people that get hurt. Not the hospital that kills people. OK, I'm done. |

It's all video games, music, and violent movies fault!!!
wait... im not working for the media or a right wing christian ass hole! bad parenting, lack of creative output/input (music and art in schools anyone???) and sensless drugging up of kids on anti depressants and uppers. YES THEY ARE DEPRESSED, no they do not need pills. PAY ATTENTION TO YOUR KIDS, you say you are trying to provide a good life for them, but your working everyday all day, you come home, plop down mcdonalds for them, while you crack open a box a wine and bitch at them for not cleaning the house. If you talked to them, they would maybe help out more, might not turn to illicit drugs, and hell then they wouldn't be depressed (from the drugs, or you not paying attention) and not need ritilin. Also encourage kids to be motivated, have them play sports, AND play music/draw/paint/something with the brain. Doing one just isn't good enough. Be a parent, don't let your TV be a parent. |

MooseMan, I think he was joking.
Anyways, that's pretty rediculous. In cases like this I think it's necessary to look into her family life too. That's just not normal.

What the fuck is wrong with kids these days? Seems almost every other day some young kid is being stabbed. What are these parents doing at home, or rather not doing to make them do that?

Im gonna express my own opinion here and Honestly, I beleive that the kids beleive that nothing can hurt em and that they will get away with a year in juvy, when I was younger I believed a bullet couldnt kill me just because well I was young and I felt nothing could hurt me and I well have matured some. I dont know if these kids realize it but the government/police/law whatever are taking a stand to this shit and they arent just fucking around and sending this little toddlers to juvy they get 25 - life in prison. It isnt the parents fault most of the time either, Some people just totally ignore their parents and their parents have no control over what the child does no matter how hard they try... I dont know when these kids will realize that they wont be leaving that jail that they think is so easy on them until they turn 75 or something, your entire life spent in a 6x6 room with rapists, murderers, and all that shit.
The thing is, even with all this happening kids still do it. Fucked up world.... |

I just have a bit to say- This girl obviously had no empathy at all, maybe that is a problem for her.
Another is that we are safer than we think. How many children get on school buses everyday and drive to school and back with no problems at all? I'm pretty sure this is an isolated incident. It does reflect that something is wrong with our society though to have a child do something so tragic.

Where do you live that every other day some kid is getting stabbed? I don't really think there is anything wrong with kids these days. At least nothing that is indicated by the actions of this one fifteen year old. This is a fluke, it isn't any indicater of the damn kids these days. Some people are just fucked up, maybe this girl is well on her way to becoming a serial killer, though probably not anymore. -and- How can you blame the parents without knowing anything about the situation? I know that this is a messed up thing for someone to do, but i also know that none of us is in any position to blame society or parents or drugs. |

at this poin when I have kids they are getting basic self defence and awareness of surroundings training from about six on- then we will move to firearms and blades at about ten- hell, it might not help, but it can't hurt- seriously, I think everyone needs to be very aware of whats going on around them- suspicious behavior, possible exits to a building you are in, etc- seems paranoid, and sometimes nothing is gonna save you, but then again in these times what can it hurt, and the thing about paranoia is that you only have to be right once.......

Also, the lack of remorse tells me this is simply a person whose value as a human being has come to an end. There is no rehabilitation for such an act. Lock her up, wall up the door, and try to move on to those we can save. Last edited by analog; 02-06-2004 at 11:48 PM.. |

maybe she is just a sociapath.
There has always been occurances like this throughout time. The difference is this is now and the now always seems worse than the past. Don't blame society, Don't blame the schools, if anything blame the parents for not picking up on their child being not normal. |
