I wonder if it's for Martians to play around with... Source |
that is sweet, i saw an image that was the size of 4 desktops, but i havent seen any that clear
|
very sharp! that's some interesting stuff out ahead there...
|
Very cool.. I can't wait for the colour images. If they're as crisp as this, they'll be perfect.
|
Hopefully Opportunity will bring back some actual proof of water in Mars and if singled cell organisms are found to live there, that would be the greatest find of all time!!!
|
Exciting stuff. I presume the Joystick looking thing is really something else.
Apparently the ground is the consistancy of powdered sugar. It would stink if that rolled off the platform and sunk tire deep, never to move again. -smarm |
That little joystick little thingy is some sort of sundial/optical calibration device. Saw Bill Nye the Science guy talking about it on CNN or another news channel. just a fyi.
|
Most of the image are actually just broken down. You can find more images that are all put together
http://marsrovers.nasa.gov/gallery/p...20040125a.html As for the 'Joystick' in question, I was actually just making a joke but as to what it really is, NASA's Mars website doesn't give out much information as to the instruments that the rover use. |
The joystick like thing is actually a sun dial for high school kids to do experiments with.
I also found out that this thing transmits those files at 120bits per second. It must seriously take a long time to transmit those pictures. Jeez... How about the software updates for the first rover? Wow... |
The U.S. pwns Mars !!!

it seems that the Rover has landed in a small crater.

this is one of the most impressive pictures i've seen so far. notice the dust that falls down at the craters edge? http://www.spiegel.de/img/0,1020,323983,00.jpg |
Do you really think we are on mars or if this is just some hoax? My coworkers were discussing this and they got on the topic of a couple years back of when pics from the moon were released and on one of the pics there was a line down the middle that turned out to be a corner of a wall.
|
If we were...we'll be in another kind of matrix-type of discussion...only the government would know ;)
Oh, now that you discovered the truth, FBI has locked on your location and is on their way...run... |
