Where do you "chat" online?
Well for the past year or two I haven't had much time to chat online. Recently with the odd weather we have been having I have had an abundance of time to sit at home and just relax. Today I tried to hop on Yahoo Chats to see what was going on and to my dismay all it was, was bots.. bots, and more bots. Now maybe this was just bad luck with the two rooms I tired but I was wondering, where do you all go to chat online? Also what rooms do you hang out it?
I tried to hitup TFP chat - intresting topics to say the least but I know that isn't the only place on the web, so lets hear them!

right here where you were chatting.
Other than that, I just have a ton of buddies on almost every protocal ever, so Im never bored, at least. Chatting has become stupid... too many bots and 11 year olds. Sorry, chat rooms went to shit while you were gone. |

Ya know.. coming into a nice restaurant and then asking the customers what other restaurants they go to isn't such a great practice...

two different irc networks, and about 3 channels on each.
all private, and people i know pretty damn well. one on a complete first name basis. i dont do public channels for one very specific reason: The general public are asshats. ** Also i dont quite agree with ya there Halx on the way you are looking at what he/she is asking. Online chat isnt nearly the same as a forum. At least the way i interpreted his question was more *live* based chat.

Averett: TalkCity? LOL. I was there too. This was, I think, back in 1996.
Halx: Sorry but there are some things I'll never discuss on TFP, simply because it's too niche & nobody would have a clue what the hell I was talking about. I doubt anybody cares if you discuss your favorite chinese restaurant while eating in a mexican one.

I'm basically only in TFP Chat.. I don't normally talk in them, but this community is so large, it was the best way for me to actually get to know people on here. my other online chats would be with all hundreds of people on my buddy lists....

TFP offers services that we all take pride in. A cool irc channel is one of those services. It's generally conflict of interest to endorse competing services with my resources.

Used to chat at GeoCities/Yahoo before the bots took over. We had a little community thing going, where about 45 people would turn up in the same chat room almost on a daily basis from 1997 to around 2001. It was fun while it lasted, got to know a lot of great ppl. But again, that was before Yahoo turned into Yahell. I don't chat much now...mostly only via messenger, or TFP's IRC when I need immediate advice or just want to shoot the shit.

I used to do huge ICQ and MSN chats but most people were asshats and needed parental permission before signing up to a forum.
Only used #TFP once, when the TFP went down April last year, might have to look into it but then again, doing so would take so much of my time away from me. |

The only place I chat is #TFP. Slow sometimes, but its good to be able to talk real-time with the people on this board.
