A Hyperactive person with a boring job...

Help me out here if you can....

Im rather hyperactive, I cant stay put for long periods of time and my job is rather boring. I mean I sit here for long periods of time and though most of it there is not much to do, the little there is to do is done within seconds so I spend all day bored in front of the PC.

What can you recommend? If this has happened to you before, what have you done? Is there something I could do like read a book or what? I dont think that will do it so I ask you guys....

Any and all recommendations are appreciated fellow TFPers

I have a favourites list with many, many sites in it that helps me get through my day.

Also, sites with cheesy flash games help out quite alot as well.

Being hyperactive and having a boring job can be just as stressful and being over-worked.

Maybe sign up for some home-school courses and do the studying during the boring times at work. Just pick a course that's really interesting to you and challenging as well.

I dunno if this is a good idea, but when I get bored on the job, I eat (I part-time in a bakery). Or if you are able to, take a walk around the office or read a magazine. If you can go online, visit some humor sites. Or do research on stuff you're interested in. In my last job, I would read up on stuff I was interested/curious about. I learned a bunch about home theater, firearms, Christianity, and other stuff. Maybe read philosophical/theological stuff if you are interested. Or go shopping online and find the best product/price ratio for computer parts, cell phone plan, or whatever. I hope you get some ideas from that.

If you can't go online, find a hobby or something. I learned how to use an abacus a really long time ago and if I was at my last job, I'd probably practice some. Or maybe learn to play an instrument if no one's around. I think the best way to use the time is to learn something "cool." Good luck on finding the best way to kill time!

http://www.howstuffworks.com is a pretty good site to read and learn about stuff.

Try reading a book when you get tired of being online. Draw. Build something. Daydream. Try to learn a new subject. Create an invention. Play a game. Build 3d models. Chat.

You should never be bored in life, there is always something to do. Be creative.

Wow, that sounds exactly like my day too! I spend way too much time online(not really though shhh). I'm super busy, but to get away for 10 minutes or so every couple of hours. This girl who used to work at my employer once said that the people in systems have found the end of the internet since they spent too much time on. Maybe I'll ask him for any suggestions...

darn. My suggestion then is to find something you can occupy one of your hands like twirling a pencil or rolling a coin across your knuckles. It'll keep your mind busy, and it's a neat party trick, plus you can still work if you're doing a job that only needs one of your hands. If you're just sitting around most of the day waiting for something or someone, you can always buy a book or a gameboy to occupy your time.
