Ever done something you're afraid to do out of pure love?
 

When you read the title, Im sure some will think of something highly romantic or inspirational but Im not talking exactly of that....

Here in Costa Rica, in Palmares we have a big party with bullfights, food stands, rides, carnival, etc etc......

Yesterday I went with my girl and her brother and we're walking around looking at everything.. As we approach the rides, you know like the roller coaster and all those big mechanical scary rides, she's all like come on, lets get on those, please come on, come with me, please, its gonna be great, lets go together, please, etc etc...

Now, you have to understand all my life Ive been scared of these kind of rides and have very very seldomly accepted to ride on any, and mostly the kid rides that really dont do much. We're all afraid of different things, dont rag on me for this, Im afraid of this kind of rides....

I have to accept I did not know I had it in me.

As I got in the dumbass machine and sat down, my girl takes my hand and she notices, my God you're freezing...I think to myself, no shit you have no clue how scared I am....

So, the machine, called EVOLUTION *I believe* is this like hammer with a circle on one end with seats, its spinning the whole time, has you inverted half the time where you are literally hanging down facing down looking at mother earth like 20 meters up....etc etc......

I was just scared out of my pants for half the time and tried to enjoy the other half but it was very difficult. I got a thrill out of noticing that my gf had a tougher time than I did, she felt miserable, LOL.....

Anyway, I really must like this girl to have done this, Jesus Christ I had no clue I had it in me to do such a thing. Its cool to have defeated something that for so long has kicked my ass.

You may have thought you were doing it for your girl but deep down you were probably doing it for yourself. The easiest way to overcome your fears is to confront them, and you did, and for that you should be proud. It's great you have someone you love enough to face that fear even when you didn't want to.

your love for her was a good excuse to confront your fears, congrats dude!

and btw, I've never ridden on that kind of ride either :) I love rollercoasters and rides like that... but I try to avoid the rides like the revolution

i am deathly afraid of snails and i swear, the only time i will go near one (didn't say hold) is if i was going to save my husband's life...

Well nothing too daring, but just tonight the roads were horrible (not plowed after 6 inches) and cars were fish tailing and my girlfriend was snowed in. We don't live in a horrible neighborhood, but not a great one either. Well I ended up walking over there at 10pm just to see her.
Like I said, nothing courageous, but I don't think anything else could have dragged me out of the house.

I don't know if this counts, but one time at work I was working with this cute girl and I had to bring a really heavy box(about 70 lbs and I'm not that strong) over to where we were working. Normally I would have slid the box over but instead I tried to bring it over by carrying it and tried not to show that the weight was killing me... when I finished I was exausted but I guess thats what girls can do to ya ;-)

i don't know about afraid, well i was afraid i might puke.

i hate carnival rides that spin you all around and shit, but my wife loves them. well, every year this big fair happens in our nearby city, called the Puyallup Fair, every year i get a DIZZY Pass and go on a bunch of rides with her. hoping that i won't get that nauseous.

as to the topic at hand, not really anything scary but i did start eating and liking sushi do to a girl.

Oh, I thought you were talkin about somthing really stupid, like getting married.
