Blowed up. (Apache footage)
Warning - This video is not for the weak hearted, 3 people a tractor and a truck get rocked by an Apache cannon.
http://www.missouri.edu/~bam8cd/apache.mpeg Not sure who the guys are or what they're doing (besides exploding), but the person who I got it from said it looks like insurgents trying to steal equipment. Good job boys.

What's interesting is they didn't even know they were in the dudes target until he plastered them to the ground. Very cool machines.

Ashton the Apache has a 20mm chain-fed cannon, not 50cal.
Oh, thanks for your support ninety, the men in uniform really appreciate it.

Actually, I think its a 30mm M-230. What I am left wondering is what the guy next to the tractor is frantically trying to uncover. Possibly an RPG? If you look closely you can see him pulling a cover off of something. I dont think this was just a couple hoodlums trying to steal a tractor.

I didn't notice that. He's definately going for something, didn't get it out in time for us to see what it was though.

This is an graphic clip exemplifying what much of the war in iraq is like. To me, it is thought provoking and deserves more comments than the "wow good job soldiers" variety. I personally think that the soldiers here were justified in taking those men out whether they are insurgents/rebels/geurilla fighters or farmers/starving citizens/faithful capatilists. In a war a soldier must make decisions that directly or indirectly affect the lives of so many people. If the soldiers in the apache did not shoot these men, could they have continued on to a crowded plaza and set off a bomb? Attacked the fragile growing infrastructure of the new iraq? The decision to shoot by these soldiers was not an easy one by any means, and i'm sure must have took much courage. The actions of the (now) dead men led these soldiers to believe that the three guys were enemies and were to be dealt with accordingly. Or perhaps they had recieved orders to attack this target. In any case, there should be a certain amount of trust given to the government that we, the people created and currently support to carry out the wishes of the majority.

This somehow left the realm of an intelligent discussion and entered into a flame war. Send me a PM if you want to flame me ( I will promptly delete it, but it should make you feel better I guess ). I'm asking a couple of fellow tfp'ers to please take any name calling arguments to PM and try to keep public postings a little more mature than name calling and sarcastic flaming.

I hesitate to post in this thread, because of the politics involved. What I will add is that I felt nothing knowing that those were real people being shot down by a highly-skilled gunner, because of the sheer amount of exposure to FPS games that are highly realistic.

All I have to say is that it gives new meaning to the Shoot first ask questions later saying. I personally think that there could have been a better way of handling it. Not to mention if they were American machinces they were trying to steal they might as well have let them have them seeing they blew them away anyways.
