I think they did what they were supposed to quite well: entertain. Who cares if it was fake? Pro-wrestling is fake (well not entirely but enough to discount it from really being 100% real) but people keep watching anyway. Besides, unlike 100% of American pop these days, Tatu at least had inspired, energetic beats that were actually listenable.

What does it matter who created the "art"? Although I like neither Milli Vanilli nor Tatu, I cannot dent that there was a pretty good producer/arranger/Svengali behind both acts.

It was obvious from the start that it was a PR gimmick because of how overt they were about it. They are decent though so if they last a bit longer I won't mind.

The only time I ever saw or heard them was on one of those MTV award shows.
The one where all the girls streamed out wearing school-girl uniforms and then stripped to their underoos.
