I've bought a lot of stuff - I collect neons (mainly liquor and beer) and have picked up quite a few on E-Bay. I've been ripped off a couple of times - paid for stuff and never got it.

I have both bought and sold a few things on ebay. If you look I have found that you can get some really good deals but there are those many people out there that are trying to get you so if it sounds or looks to good to be true it probably is. And most people try to rip you off on the shipping so be really careful.

No. I don't trust people enough. Plus I like buying my stuff bright and shiny from a store (retail or internet). I don't feel like dealing with scammers selling refurbished stuff and the hassle if my order is fucked up is not worth it to me.

I'll admit i'm a eBay nut, and I actually teach a class on how to use eBay at my local tech college. I've bought and sold many things. And I have made thousands of dollars. I buy alot of stuff off of there (it's a good place to find lots of oddball stuff). And yes I have been scammed once, but I traced the guys email to his college and told his campus police and his dad paid me the money back. There are nice people and of course there are assholes on ebay. If you know how to use it, it can work in your favor very easily. It works perfect for most of the stuff I sell...like oddball vehicle parts that no one local would give me the money they are worth. Also I sell lots of industrial equipment. Big big big profit in that. If you know how to shop it can be great.

i just sold a laptop on ebay and got WAY too much money for it. ebay's full of suckers.

then again, i've bought some things myself, so it kinda makes me wonder...

the only time i've been sorta screwed was when a guy sold me a stolen cell phone. i threatened to track his ass and he refunded, so it turned out ok.

mm. bought a Canon Rebel EOS xs from ebay, complete with 35-80 lens, 75-300 lens, haze filter, both manuals, new batteries, and a carry case. all for $180 (give or take a few bucks). You can find some sweet deals on ebay, but you really have to get lucky. though recently, ebay has changed their policy on negative feedback - I forget the exact wording, but the gist of it is that the buyer may not be able to see the negative feedback of any given seller anymore. Which, really, isn't right/fair, but still...

In short: ebay is good, but you have to get lucky.

I have bought several items and not had any real probles. A few times I have gotten real deals.
I have been looking at buying computers on Ebay but I don't think I have that much faith in the process.
