Chain Wallets allowed at airport?
i will be flying for the first time since 9-11 in a few days. I was wondering if the airports have outlawed wearing a chain wallet on the flight? I'd hate to have to throw it out at the airport if they didnt allow that sort of thing because it could be considered a weapon.
figured id give you smart guys and gals a try with this question... seems the customer service line at the airport could put me on hold for a bit. |

I would certainly not be surprised if they didn't allow you to board with the the chain wallet. You may consider just placing it in your suitcase that won't be with your take on bag. I don't think they'd have any problem with that. I could be wrong, but that may be your best option.

Shouldn't be a prob, I've seen quite a few people with chain wallets go through security. But I guess it really depends on how long the chain is though, and how bad of a mood the security officer is in.
I completely forgot I had a pocketknife in a side pocket of my shaving kit a few weeks ago. I was on an extended business trip, with seven flights in five days. On the very last flight, on my way home, I was surprised when they pulled it out! Not so much surprised it was in there (even though I didn't even know it was), but that I'd gone through six security gates at six major airports (Toronto, Vancouver, Seattle, LA, Atlanta, and Chicago) without it being found. I didn't want it confiscated, so all I did was put my knife in one of my carry-on's, and let them check that bag in. That would work for you to, if they do cause a fuss. |

I got through the Denver and New Orleans airport with it. You just have to take it off when you walk through the metal detector. I never got shit from anyone for it. They were more worried about the big "FUCK BUSH" sticker on my laptop. Ask when you check in. They will let you know.

I honestly don't think it would be a problem. My mom has accidently gone through security with a swiss army knife and they never caught it. It is something that can do little or no damage. Seriously, are you going to threaten to stangle someone? In the amount of time it takes to choke them, a giant mob on the plane will have beaten you to death.

Id think it would be fine, but just to make things less of a hassle, I wouldnt fly with it. When I fly, I dress up somewhat (slacks, shirt, and blazer), I have found that looking respectable tends to get you a little less of a hassle. Not too much, but enough. Besides, I like dressing up
Security is enough of a hassle as it is, anything that could make it moreso I would go without.

hehe... I fly at least once a week, and my favorite one was when they pulled my nail clippers out of my shaving kit. They made me break off the nail file portion and throw it out. Then, if I wanted to keep the the clippers, I had to dismantle it into it's two pieces, and keep them seperated in my carry on... I was with my boss at the time, and he was laughing so hard he had tears in his eyes.
I just told them to keep the clippers, I can pick up another pair for .97 cents anywhere. |
