I just want to say that I'm in my first year of college and I have come to the conclusion that it SUCKS. I have been getting almost straight A's and I don't see how it is suppose to be harder than HS. I want to know if anyone else has the same feelings or am I wrong in making that judgement.

Streak: Do you go to Ohio State? What's your major?

I went to a public high school in CT, and school here is MUCH harder than it was back at home. Granted I play a sport and have had a lot of family/health issues to contend with, but I'm doing well in two of my classes, ok in another, and am going to be repeating the fourth as I probably won't come close to passing. I guess a lot of it has to do with how you were taught in high school and what subjects you're taking.

College wasn't a huge change for me, scholastically. Much like high school, I basically just have to do the work and I can get A's and B's. Not tons of extra studying in most of my subjects. But, there is a lot more to college besides school. I had a pretty crappy freshman year, because I never did anything. I just sat in my dorm room and counted the days til I went home again. This year has been lots of fun, because I'm more active. And yes, the school work does get harder as your classes become more focused. Don't despair.

The educating is sometimes easy, sometimes hard. The difficulty is found in deciding what to educate yourself in, which will determine the rest of your life (in most cases).

Anyways, try Electrical Engineering. Asian countries get their best and brightest (literally, the top kiddos in their country) and give them the free ride in exchange for working for them for a few years after they graduate. If this shit wasn't hard enough, the professors try to make people quit, and they grade on a bell curve as well. So you got a professor that more or less hates you, 20 or so asian guys hanging out in the same dorm constantly networking to set the bar obcenely high and you get to pay for all the expenses of college by working a job (if you can find one).

At least there's hot chicks, everywhere.

I DO have a full course load. Anyways I might go into Engineering anyways... math seems to be my best subject.

I think some people do better in academia than others. When i was a freshman a lot of people were just there to party, and I too found most of my classes very easy, that totally changes as you take more advanced classes. I used to be able to just go to every class and study a little to get A's, but in 300 and 400 level courses you need to do a lot more work. Good luck in school, and try to find something you really like and stick with it.

first year is pretty much a joke so dont despair. By the time you hit your 300 level classes and the occasional 600 as an undergrad. you'll wonder where all the easy A's and extremely abundant hot chicks have gone.

It depends on the school, and what your HS education was like. I go to a pretty good and hard school (UNC), but came from an incredible HS education, and havent found it to be any harder than HS. I love it though, lots of fun.

I'm currently 4 classes away from an A.E.S. (associates in engineering science), and it was easy, at first. Wait a little bit, it will get more difficult, especially if you have any major that involves a lot of math.

If you're anything like me, you'll reach the point where you really miss the classes that seem like they're a waste of time. Besides, your first few years of college are pretty much a review of high school.....science, math, history, literature, etc. It will get better though.

Yeah wait till the classes start trying to actively weed you out. Alot of people just don't have the discipline to go to college can't take the freedom and are unable to regulate their activities. Maybe you are just extremely self motivated, people like that do well in the college atmosphere.

Trust me, when you start working a lot more in your junior and senior classes, and not getting the high grades... you'll be glad to have those A's that you got 1st year.

Are there other reasons that you don't like college or is it merely because you don't see how it's any different from high school?

Also remember that college isn't all about learning factual knowledge. A lot of it is learning HOW to think. The attitudes, questions you should be asking, stuff like that.
