I've only met one working ballet dancer and she was rail thin (here toes were also seriously screwed up) so I don't know what the norm is for ballet, but, in this case, it sounds like her weight was not the issue but just an excuse. And obviously the wrong excuse since it got so much negative publicity. And why wouldn't it. It's one of those situations where you have to wonder what the hell they were thinking.

Seems pretty straight forward to me. Any guy that doesn't want to 'toss' her around a bit has got to be gay!

Yeah, pretty hot. I dated a ballerina in college for awhile, and it wasn't particularly fun. She was always practicing, couldn't eat much, etc. She would be approximately 5'3", 105 lbs. This is pretty skinny in my book.

I agree with this so much. And it is so crazy that young women and even adults think they have to be super thin it makes me so mad. Society says that you have to be a stick to be thin. And it is so wrong that is why young girls have eating disorders.

I was out the other day, and there was a girl that looked just like her. I tell you what, she was being hit on like no 'large' girl ever gets hit on.

Having said that, IMO the theatre was just fishing for excuses, apparently she is a real bitch to work with, and took ages to learn routines, and when she did she made lots of mistakes.

I wondered about that aspect--glad someone posted it.

BTW, to the people discussing the inability of the guys to lift her: they're guys in a ballerina troup--not weightlifters...shouldn't be too surprising if they can't lift and toss a 100 lb sack around a stage!

i with you, if the guys can't lift her skinny ass, maybe they should be replaced

santafe5000 12-22-2003 07:40 PM

I remember the story, and like was said, probably used the weight thing to just get rid of her. She is not very big and if I can pickup a girl twice her size and carry her thru the door, the men in the ballet should be able to throw her around for a while. Heck, I am in no way, in the shape those fella's are.

Hycdubg 12-24-2003 09:38 AM

I'd hit it.

Strange Famous 12-27-2003 07:33 AM

She doesnt look fat to me.

I could probably lift her up, I probably couldnt dance ballet though.

WannabeTFP 12-27-2003 09:26 AM

She looks pretty good. Interesting story.

That's absolute bullshit that they fired her. I mean, her waist looks to be about the same width as her neck! But I suppose that she has to understand that you have to be super tiny in order to be thrown around all day. She is tiny weight-wise, but look at how tall she is. I bet that all the muscle that she has on her adds quite a bit of weight.

I think that maybe the men are just a bunch of sissy-marys, and they know that she could kick thier ass any day of the week!

They just shouldn't have used the word "fat" to describe her, because no way in hell is she fat! That must have been a huge blow to her. Hopefully she doesn't have a low self esteem or else she might look in the mirror and actually beleive that, and go overboard...if you know what I mean...

sounds like she had an attitude problem- while we all seem to agree she is'nt fat, or anywhere close, there are "industry standards" on weight in ballet- considering that the dance itself can fuck up the body, maybe 105 is a bit much- me, I feel the whole thing is fucked up- had a teacher in elementary who danced for about 15 years at the professional level before she became a teacher, quit because it damaged her feet something fierce- the motions in ballet are painfull, and can severly damage the feet and ankles even if done perfectly- simply put, it is never something that I would force a child into, while I can appreciate it as an art form, its one of those things that i think asks a bit more of the body of the practitioner than is reasonable- sure football players get injured, so do most "physical " people, but come on, when your toes bleed for hours.........

papermachesatan 12-27-2003 11:48 PM

Far too skinny.

mrbuck12000 12-28-2003 05:07 AM

Shoot fat....here in wisconsin we would send that poor gurl down to the local tavern and enter her in the weekly hot wings contest every friggin week and to mcdonalds for breakfast burgers so she would freeze her little hinny off.
