The prospect of transplanting a face from a dead person to another living person was first raised by plastic surgeons one year ago. Speaking at the time, Peter Butler, a plastic surgeon at London's Royal Free Hospital, told a conference that the procedure would be possible within months.

Surgeons now say they have reached the point where they could carry out the operation. They say improvements in anti-rejection drugs now make it possible.
Remember Face/Off with John Travolta and Nick Cage?

I never saw that movie...

But I like the idea. Taking a dead person's face.

That could be bad. What if terrorists kill the president or some other powerful figure then use their face for evil?

I can see micheal jackson doing some sick stunt like this to get away from the media.

But then again we'd just get another sick pervert in the news cuz he would do it again with that face.

What if it has already happened?

Yes, it played (several times) on a 21 hour flight from Thailand to the US. I remember it because it was seared into my brain during that flight. So I can't answer the question objectively. When the plane landed I was a different person - with the same face!

I think there'd be a lot of trouble getting faces. When most people die, they're old and I don't think many people would want old faces. The families of young bodies with desirable faces would put up a good fight to keep the face on too. But, I'm sure there are people out there willing to donate anything to help out someone else. This kind of procedure could also be great for burn victims too.
