imcompetent coworkers

i work with this guy, he has got to be like 60, not that age makes a difference, and he is the most fucking helpless incompetent fool i have ever met. I mean he is really nice, but everything he does, he asks one of the rest of us for help...it could be anything from assembling something (which takes him like an hour....and me 20 mins) to getting a "heavy" box down (heavy = more than 40 pounds for him). It drive me nuts, i helped him assembel something one day that took us like and hour and a half (20 mins spent by having him read the 1 page directions). I could have done it in like 35 mins, but he kept tellin me to "hold on" while he re-read the directions yet again.

sorry for the rant....anyone else have similar problems with imcompetence where you work?

I don't mind if someone is geniunely trying - remember some people are able to put things together- others not.

I mind it when there is an individual who does not put forth the effort to improve.

i spent 20 years in the federal government; you would not BELIEVE the stupidity of the supervisors in the middle management level. all they're out for is to keep their asses in their job for their 30-year retirement...

Yup, worked for this one lady who had no people skills and any common sense. The only reason she is the general manager of the organization ... she had worked there the longest. What an accomplishment.

I actually had to walk over to one of my co-worker's desks and show her how to press Control-Alt-Delete so she could log on to our Windows 2000 network! At least she remembered her password!

Incompetent coworkers are everywhere. The truth is most people are just lazy as fuck and can't do their jobs and the sad thing is they don't even give a shit. I carry the load where I work, and it doesn't take all that much effort. If I was the boss where I worked there would be a lot of unemployed lazy fuckers around here.

I find it's easier to deal with co-workers when you don't interact with them at all.

If you have to talk to this guy; talk real loud and have something twitch....

I think your problem is a minor one. I've known the "Peter Principle" to be alive and well (incompetent gets promoted to move him out of the way).

I deal with a lot of incompetence at my job
it's a union shop so once you're in, you're in
it's really bad when the temps come in the summertime
many of them do the job better than people who have been doing it for years.
at the end of the summer the temps all get laid off

I wish we could keep some of the good ones

We deal with telephone orders and some people around here just can't get it through their heads that you don't say, "And I have your credit card on file from last year, would you like to use the same one"

Also have some people that give bad support for our product.

coworkers???? only coworkers? what about people in general? there's lots of incompetent people...even people who we pay to give services...

here's a coworkers story... today at breakfast.. we have foodservice toasters to keep the pace with all the people that want toast. This one chap puts his butter bagel into the toaster... it catches on fire. He watches the flames and is more concerned about his bagel.. which he speeds up and it comes out not toasted maybe slightly singed. He then hits his head exclaiming,"Oh! The BUTTER!!!!"

yeah... I'm about to move into an apartment building... wonderful to know that I work with a moron like this... and even worse.. could live next to one.
