As a kid, I went on the Niagra Falls helicopter tour.
As an adult, I took the trip out to the volcanoes on the big island of Hawaii.

No helicopters, but I was in a two passenger biplane once. It didn't have any windows but the pilot still thought it would be good to do some dives. A fun experience to say the least.

My old friend's dad flew a news chopper when he retired from the service. We used to get to sneak on a trip every once in a while.

The first time I flew on one, I didn't much like it but later trips were much more fun.

Many times in the service. My service assignment was flying crew chief. When with the right pilot and doing the right menuveres, there isn't a roller coaster in town that can beat them.

Took a circle-island tour of Kauai. Beautiful. The pilot was ex-military and had more time to show us stuff than most 'tours'. Once the tour was over, he had to take a quick trip up to a weather station on the top of a mountain. We made it up there (with the weather guy) in mere minutes (yow!) and I was completely amazed as the pilot held the rig at the edge of this peak....totally.....still...with updrafts coming on all around. Really cool.

Anyway, highly recommended.

I wonder if I was around 8 years ago when this thread was started? But I never posted in this thread.

I've been a few times, for pleasure though, not a military purpose (thank you to all of our service people for your sacrifice!) My most memorable was when I took my daughter, who was almost 7 years old at that time, on her first heli ride. We got on up the Niagara River in NY. As we approached the copter with all the noise and whirring I was carrying her and he tightly clutched me around the neck, obviously a bit scared. We sat down next to the pilot since it was a small glass dome front helicopter like one of those Bell copters. As soon as we lifted off the ground, her eyes lit up and a giant smile came across her face We hovered over the river heading downstream and you could see how the rapids started to develop, getting more and more formented, and then suddenly it was like the earth dropped out from under us and we were over Niagara Falls...very dramatic view and approach to the Falls.

Not my pics, but to give you the flavor:

You know how zoo's have signs that say "Don't Feed the Animals"? The same thing applies for hillbillies. You're just enabling them.

Given that I know where Whear's Valley, Mirey Ridge, Townsend and The Y and that Sevier County High School has a purple track with solid, rainbow-colored exchange zones and where Uncle Lem's place was, I get to say that.
