http://www.metro.co.uk/metro/weird/a...rticle_id=8899 this is pretty goddamn hysterical when you consider the incredible swear words russian contains  |
Seems reasonable, politicians shouldn't use swear words, especially by hiding them in another language.
"We will wipe them out of the shithouse", ah good ol Putin. |
dude, if you cant count on a russian to say exactly what hes thinking when hes thinking it, then who can you count on?
|
so george orwell was right...
|
haha, no more freedom of speech.
the move toward communism continues... |

I think that they will have a fight on their hands returning to Communism, though. Too many of the younger generation are seemingly gung-ho about Capitalism and the "freedoms" that go with it. Of course, that's the spin we get here from our media outlets, so I could be talking out my ass, it would explain the halitosis. Anyway, it will be an interesting couple of decades for Mother Russia. |
Bullshit.
Hahahha...okay. Now that I made my loserself laugh, i think that this is one of those crazy laws that will never work or hardly be enforced. |

As far as I'm aware people could still swear, as long as they were not public officials, and being recorded. What do you think the outcome would have been if Bush said the "motherfucking axis of shitfucking evil" instead ? |
If anyone thinks Russia is a democracy, they are sadly misled. This is not the first time freedom of speech has been infringed on by the CCC.. er I mean the Russian government, nor the last. I'm just glad they didn't get Berezovsky extradited from Greece, or the Russian people would lose alot more than public swearing... Keep your eyes open, West... Comrade Putin and friends have bigger goals than they'd like to admit.

a resounding hell yeah? and what goals do you think the russians have in mind nefir? the bottom line really is that no matter how many ideas they have, they'll never be in the game again, they are just too flat out broke and like over here, their societal standards are crumbling... russians are no longer willing to eat dirt to insure the survival of the motherland.... |
Wow, that's going to be tough. All the russians I know cuss like sailors. The way they explained their system of swearing would make you believe their society was founded upon it.

Too broke ? Yeah sure, but their free market economy is only a decade old, and is being built with expensive paid labour. Societal standards ? I'm guessing you have never lived in Russia/never known any older Russians/never known any Russians period. When it comes to morals, the Russian people are the most conservative I have ever come across. If it looks like their standards are "crumbling" its because they are slowly being dragged down to the level of the west. |

whoa whoa whoa, hang on here... first off, the game was a big pissing match, and they ran out :shrug second off, more functional warheads, yeah, sure, thats all well and good, and I'll freely admit that they to this day have a LOT MORE, they were a fifth strike country after all, but, they aint got no way to launch them now from what I am told. and theres no arguing how broke they are and you realize this ;) fourth, my last name is Uruskyj. Go ask someone to translate that for you ;) I am all too aware of russian morals/culture and they are a very moral people, they just arent as willing to eat dirt to come out ahead in a cold war, at least not as willing as they were say 30 years ago ;) get back to me when you figure out exactly what my last name means ;) edit: damn, I just read that, looks like I got something in my eye  |

Here are a few, just off the top of my head: - Unhealthy gov't encouragement of extreme, violent nationalism (AKA nazism) - Constant attempts to bring down the last vestiges of free speech in the press, which are slowly succeeding. Eventually we'll see just a government-run media, which shows the people what it wants them to see. Anyone following the events surrounding Mr.Berezovsky at all? - Putin's power grab for neighboring countries reminds me of a certain 4-letter acronym that it seems someone high up in the power structure has in mind. - Possible gov't-staged destruction of apartment blocks within Russia to justify their actions in Chechnya. This sounds a bit tin-foil-hat, but Putin's record is against him. He's a KGB man after all. |
Russian's are banning words and we are allowing them.

Guys, it isn't as if a policeman will hear Timski swearing in the street and give him a ticket or anything. More of a keeping up public morals kind of thing. Since when can a poster be put up in America with swear words all over it?
