jobs
does anyone know of any legit jobs that are actually done from the home with a computer?
|
web design can be done from home.
a good friend of mine makes a very decent bank doing that, utilizing video conferencing and such. |
I do part time work for my Dad on the computer. He has a printing business and does layouts for advertisements, forms, and menus for businesses and even the county. I most of his layouts for him unless it's really minor, simple stuff. Made forms for the county, and typed up menus for several local restaurants. I've made up business cards too. It's not full time work - he pays me piecework. It's a thought.
Also medical transcribing can sometimes be done from home through companies or freelance. Most companies require a course in Medical Terminology. I had intended to work for a company once they got some new accounts that they were expecting but we moved right around that time and they didn't do work outside that region. |
Another route is to provide computer training for people in your community. You can either set-up a training room in your home or provide on-site training in student's homes. You will need to be proficient in whatever programs you offer training on.
My wife is doing online ad placement for a company. |
Daytrading used to be the rave..
Haven't heard as much about it lately though. |
You can try writing a screenplay. Or a novel. Heh.:D
|
Graphic design. My mom is a graphic designer and at one time her freelance work was pulling in more money than her day job.

I do my job from home.. except when I wanna see chicks get naked.. then I go in to work.
I'm a webmaster btw. |
Halx: shouldn't this be in the bragging about yourself-thread? :D
edit: you can do deskwork from home if you can wrestle the permit from your boss. There are alot of people around here just starting with this. They work on their computer with their files from work, log on to a secure line and get things done. All kinds of deskjobs. Most popular technology for this at the moment is VPN I believe (don't shoot me if I'm wrong ) |
a good friend of mine publishes books form home
the art is done on the computer and they print every thing at there house |
I'm in charge of Operations for 3 Internet-related companies. I do it from home when I choose to do it from home. I go into the office when I choose to do that. A lot of new technology tasks can be done by telecommuting.
There are, however, sometimes reasons why face time is important and the human factors that affect morale have some significance in collaborative projects. |
I agree with art about face time. It's really important to keep in touch with your coworkers. Otherwise you find out about changes in the organization too late, or you stop getting consideration for cool projects.. or maybe even promotions.
For what it's worth, I've done a few small programming contract jobs from home (not the only jobs I've had). Did the code, sent it to them, got a check for it. Simple as that. :) Unfortunately, such jobs are not easy to come by and usually require a friend or two in the company in question. I wish I could freelance all the time but I can't. |
well currently im unemployed in between jobs if you will and im looking for some work to make some money as all these are great jobs to do from home i dont have most of the experience required thanks for all of your replies however

hang in there, i was in your shoes until yesterday..
try looking around locally for leads, and keep posting and looking around online if possible monster, hotjobs, careerbuilder, jobsearch.org are all good places to start looking. Also go to your local unemployeement/ employment offices and register with them and temp agencies.. Also check around , it's holiday season and lots of people are looking for seasonal employees now. Good luck! |
Grondar, daytrading requires a stock market these days. nowadays most day traders have gone to get real jobs, like as frymasters in the local greasy spoon.
|
I took a touch typing course when I was about 13 at somebodies home. Don't remember how much it cost (was charged to the school) but with 10 of us, 1 of them, and classes all day, she can't have been doing too badly for herself. If you cannot stand kids, adults need this stuff as well. Just contact the big firms.
|
ive got alot of friends that work from home. ones a webmaster, ones a daytrader, one does digital photography and my room mate is a php programmer/web developer.
|
I've got a buddy who is webmaster of a smoking fetish site. They don't even have any nudity on the site, just women sitting around on their asses, smoking. He sells a half-hour video of a chick sitting on a fence, fully clothed, smoking cigarettes. He sells it for like $25. He's making enough on it that he doesn't need another job...
I own a small programming firm, so I work from home too. Freelance programming is a great thing to do at home, if you can find work doing it. And if you can stand the lack of human contact. |
I have full intentions of running a software development firm out of my house.
