The Museum of Sex's First Wedding Ceremony Marital Bondage by Matthew Phillp October 15 - 21, 2003 The Museum of Sex closed its doors on Sunday, October 12, to all but those on the guest list for its very first wedding ceremony. Artist Pet Silvia and Art@Large Gallery owner Tammey Stubbs were wed in a ceremony that sought to shock and entertain as much as it joined the two in holy matrimony. Approximately 150 guests, most clad in fetish outfits, piled into a makeshift sanctuary to witness the ceremony. Usually a gallery, the museum space was decorated with hundreds of lights and a series of mixed-media sculptures constructed from materials that ranged from feather dusters to latex fists. On one side of the room guests were encouraged to leave a lipstick kiss mark on the wall and transcribe a secret confession. To their immediate right hung an inflatable-doll couple, the male without genitals. The piece de resistance was the wedding cake. Placed next to a green neon sign that read "Fresh Meat," it was a tower of cake and marzipan molded to resemble a rack of lamb, meat skewers, and soup bones. The cake inside: pink with raspberry filling. Quoting John Lennon, the wacky reverend/musician-for-hire Connor Mack Tribble performed the ceremony in a black PVC hooded cape, but only after the couple paraded one at a time through the center of the congregation to Brian Eno's Here Come the Warm Jets. The aisle was created with two long lines of police tape. To top the occasion off, the honeymoon starts in Wichita, Kansas, and moves to Roswell, New Mexico, in time for Halloween. |
...that's how I want to get married.....really....

Holy shit! Or, rather, should I say "Unholy shit!"
|
Won't have to go far for the honeymoon...
|
Sounds like a fun time!

We went by there when we were in New York a couple of weeks ago. I wanted to stop and check it out but we didn't have time.
Anyone ever been in? |
