A couple of days ago I had a friend who experiemented a bit on a chatboard by pretending that he was a woman. The verry instant he enterd the chatroom he was bombarded with pickuplines, bad pickuplines, sexual advances, attempts to initiate cybersex (etc. the list goes on and on and on).
That got me thinking a bit (he's on an old 33.6 modem, so he got flooded out rather quickly..) so I have a few questions,

Doesn't that become bothersome? I mean, a woman who enters some chatrooms are practicly cyber-raped before they have even said "hi".

Has anyone of you women ever gone into a chatroom pretending to be a guy so you wou wouldn't be botherd by HNG's*?

And finally,
How come some women acctually put up with it? (they wouldn't keep doing it if it didn't work on some people...)

I myself just stay the hell away from them, or I go to an area that I will be comfy in! I used to love them and mess with people all the time...but I def. am not bored enough to go there anymore!!

Now I chat on tfpchat and hit on all the guys..haha

they ultimatly get to sex no matter what i give my age......12f to a 35f...i guess ill try a 50f tonite if im bored.

Doesn't that become bothersome? Definately. With Yahoo I can ignore everyone who bugs me and I don't want to talk to. Once I get past that then I can actually have a normal conversation. I have Cable so can handle a good bit going on at once.

Has anyone of you women ever gone into a chatroom pretending to be a guy so you wou wouldn't be botherd by HNG's*? I have gone as a guy but I'm a nasty lier so it's too much work to keep up the show.

How come some women acctually put up with it? (they wouldn't keep doing it if it didn't work on some people...)
Usually when I go to a chatroom it's because I'm feeling really bored and wanting to just kill time. Most of the time it's because I'm feeling horny and hubby isn't around. I often go with it in my mind that I'd like to cyber when I got to a chat room. I won't cyber though and just automatically ignore anyone who's first pm is "Whanna Cyber?". It's just rude. I don't often put up with it but when I do it's because I'm in one of those snippy moods where I can ignore it.

One time I had a guy PM me with "Wanna Cyber?" and then I started to "cyber" with him. Messed with him, telling him that I wanted him to Cyber with my hubby. lol Hubby wasn't there but it freaked him out and he fled Asap. He he I was in one of my devilish moods then.

i wonder what percentage of women in chatrooms who put up with HNG´s are actually just guys seeing how bad it is...?

i´ve even had some dude asking me if i was a chick right here (in v3.0)... guess he figured i was one of the women in my avs.

i can´t quite bring myself to trust chatrooms. i´m not really sure why, but i much prefer the message board style of communication... guess its just less intrusive...?

I worked from my house for a while after my youngest was born and because of the crazy hours I kept, I used to go into a few chatrooms. If you become a "regular" some of them can be pretty good but as a women you ALWAYS get a zillion pm's from guys wanting to cyber. It's aggravating! I've never gone into one pretending to be a guy, but I did have a friend (male) who used to pretend he was a chick just to play with others minds. *shrug*
Personally, I wouldn't trust anything anyone said in one of them....I guess that's why I don't bother with them at all anymore!!

You wanna know whats scary, well not really scary more like sad..... my wife and I were in a chat room togeather. I was Redwing26 she was Redwing22 well we were "playing" in the main channel and someone asked why we had the same nick... well, In the main channel we told everyone that we were Siamese Twins connected at the hip. And that 26 was the man side and 22 was the girl side... within 20 seconds of saying that Redwing22 was a female she had 6 or 7 PM's for cyber sex... she told them that she was attached to Redwing26 did they mind.... they were like "No, just tell him not to watch...." I was once again shocked at sad some guys can be.

Back when I would chat I used a nickname that had "girl" tagged on it. I got a ton of PM's from guys. Some weren't trying to hit on me (obviously anyway) but most were. After awhile I changed my nickname to something that wasn't gender specific. The PM's cut down drastically.

Quite a few people here thought I was a guy at first. So I put a signature saying I was a woman

But I haven't been hit on yet.

Sniff, I must be losing my touch!
