It Was 63 Years Ago Today... (John Lennon)
...that Sgt. Pepper started the play...
Today would've been John Lennon's 63rd Birthday (wish I could say "Happy Birthday, John!") . How (if any way) has John Lennon influenced YOUR life? I'm just curious. Side note: when John was murdered, I turned off Monday Night Football, grabbed 2 different gallons of paint, and went down to the local "people's billboard" to paint a tribute. (Pics to follow when I find 'em...) Such a gentle soul, I'm just curious what He's meant/ means to You. Imagine Imagine there's no heaven, It's easy if you try, No hell below us, Above us only sky, Imagine all the people living for today... Imagine there's no countries, It isnt hard to do, Nothing to kill or die for, No religion too, Imagine all the people living life in peace... Imagine no possesions, I wonder if you can, No need for greed or hunger, A brotherhood of man, Imagine all the people Sharing all the world... You may say Im a dreamer, but Im not the only one, I hope some day you'll join us, And the world will live as one. I miss You, John. And Thanks.... still trying to live the dream.... http://www.greatmodernpictures.com/g...hirtposter.jpg |

He's an icon for idealism.
Idealism has its place. That's about it. |
I heard the news today, oh boy...
About a lucky man who made the grade John, He brought me joy at many times in my life through his music and his humour. I was 16 when he was shot. I heard about it the next day when i woke up in the morning and I just sat in my bed with tears running down my face. It just didn't make any sense, but then again, whatever does make sense in life. Supposedly, Mark David Chapman was taking revenge on John for John's statements that the Beatles were more popular than Christ. How sad. Of all the famous people that have died in my life, I think the world slowed down the most for John Lennon. A footnote........ On December 8, 1980, Chapman shot and killed John Lennon outside the Dakota Apartments in New York City. Chapman was a former security guard from Hawaii who came to New York specifically to attack the famous ex-Beatle. Though Chapman's lawyer initially entered a plea of insanity, Chapman later changed the plea to guilty. He was sentenced to 20 years to life in prison, a sentence which he is serving in New York's Attica prison. Chapman was denied parole at his first parole hearing in October of 2000. |
