Halloween costumes

Yeah, I'm sure this has been done before, but I searched and I didn't see anything.

Anyway, does anyone know what a good way is for me to make myself taller and look convincing? I'm 5'6" on a good day, and I'd like to get up to 7 ft at least.

Please let me know if you have any ideas.

Stilts would be the obvious answer. depends on the costume but you could make it so you hve a fake torso on your shoulders with peep holes through the chest.

or you could do both. stilts are good, though hard to walk with. personally, I'd suggest hollow, lightweight "platform shoes" or something similar to begin with. If you then want, get some tent poles for bracing, and construct a costume around them - and view through the chest, instead of the neck.

Get some sheetrocking stilts. They might be a tad noisy but they aren't as hard to use as wood ones with handles. If you fall down though they can be a bear to get back up on. They're easier to get the handle on than regular stilts and have hinges so they'll move more like regular legs. Many construction companies have them or you can rent them from a sheetrock supplier probably. Same place you'd get a sheetrock lift.

Yup, that was my suggestion too. And I'm pretty sure you can rent them.

Rollerblades can make you taller and appear to be floating with the right costume. You won't hit 7', however

Didnt people used to have their legs broken then stretched out in order to "grow" taller. Something like that. Safe to say it was unhealthy.

Stilts obviously. Then you have to make your shoulders wider to be in proportion.

When I was in Cub Scouts we put empty tomato juice cans on and used them as stilts.
I doubt you'll get that high, though.

stilts man, it's the only semi safe way of doing it. You could go with the soda-can trick and use higher stuff, but if you tie it to your feet, you can either:
a) lose the log under your feet and tumble down
b) trip and seriously sprain your ankle.

I wouldn't look through the chest, that's highly uncomfortable if you actually wanna have a conversation with somebody as well.

Hehe, I like the idea of being an angry dwarf :-P but, unfortunately, I'm too tall for that even.

I thought of maybe getting some really tall platform shoes of some kind, and putting fur all around them to make them look like animal skin boots. Maybe go as a big norseman or something cool like that.

Any ideas for what weapon I could carry? I always thought of a big ass sword. Maybe a giant hammer of some kind... or even... an axe

oh the ideas

Maybe a personal-sized helium ballon large enough to lift you off the ground? Yeah, I'd stick with the stilts.

Try looking at goth stores. Goth chicks always want to be tall so they have some really hot boots with REALLY tall platforms. They're great because they're not too unconfortable and you can still dance around all night or wahtever you are doing. You can find some cheap ones on Ebay, that where I got mine.
