John Titor, Real Time Traveler
This is also in the paranoia section. Figure I would post this here as well because its so damn strange.
____________________________________________________ I just found about this guy from a link from Sledge. Apparently he is a real time traveler from the year 2036. This is really interesting and makes you wonder about some things. He even gave hints to the events of 9-11 before it happened. He also talked about a new civil war starting soon, a little too soon for me. Do you think he's for real? http://www.johntitor.com/ Last edited by Xiangsu; 09-30-2003 at 03:50 AM.. |

Here are some pictures of the time machine and schematics.
That last one I found particularly strange. See how the laser bends? The beam is being bent by the gravitational field produced by the distortion unit. This picture is supposed to be from the year 2035 during John's training and the man in the picture is his instructor. |

Nothing is "clear" about his bonkerdom if you're willing to suspend your ideas about the possibility of time travel. Which a lot of his fans are, I guess.
It's more fun to read his posts when you can convince yourself for a while that they're real. They'll give you a LOT to think about. |

Huh. (not the most intelligent response, but it’s all I got.)

In my opinion, Titor is a nut. Anyone can say they're from the year 2036 and have schimatics of a 'time machine.' I'll believe Titor when I see him time travel, or if the opportunity came up, time travel myself using his 'machine.'

Hail Seekers of Esoteric Knowledge!
What kind of "future cigar" is that guy smoking in the last picture? I think it's an Arturo Fuente 858. Only the highest quality vintage tobaccos and hand workmanship go into Arturo Fuente cigars, making them a blend of art and craftsmanship that will apparently be valued far beyond the apocalypse. -GH Last edited by Giant Hamburger; 09-30-2003 at 08:25 PM.. |

I'm reading the website so I'll refrain from comment....except I know that if I was a time traveller the first thing I would do is seek out an anonymous obscure message board and post.....I mean scientists don't really care about curving time and advanced theoretical physics.....do they?

Guardedly skeptical...at this point. I have, at this point, not seen any reason to believe...or to disbelieve.

Yeah, the guys PROBABLY a liar but let's not forget, anything is possible. I guess we'll find out later if he is nuts or not if the civil war breaks out.

There are some very weird things in there, and I'm not talking about his predictions.
Although I guess Omaha should probably start getting ready since it's gonna be the new capitol and all

Interesting, But fake. Einstein proved that time travel is possible. but only forwards. not backwards.
I'm not saying that it couldn't be done. But not in the time frame he gives when you consider that a war just killed a big chunk of the world. and thus a lot of it's resources and knowlege.

Am I the only person who thinks this is brilliant? Some bored physicist goes online saying he's a journeyman from the year 2036, spouts some convincing pseudoscience, and brings up a lot of interesting topics, and then vanishes, and years later people are still talking about it.
Yeah, it's bullshit. No, it is not really a time traveler. Get beyond that and appreciate a good prank. |

If I was going to be a time traveler.. I'd at least come up with a more kickass handle than JOHN TITOR...
Maybe Fonda Coxx? That would be interesting... kinda wonder what other interesting "handles" one might decide to use to be a time traveler..

The biggest problem I had with time travel (backwards) was the fact that if the universe is expanding, and our solar system is both revolving around the center and waving up and down on the plane of our galaxy and Earth is going round and round the sun, if your time machine moves you through time but not a whole lot of space... you're fucked.
