For me I would have to say drowning or being slowly tortured with several different methods.

One of my friends in high school was changing the starter on his car with the car sitting on concrete blocks. The blocks crumbled and the car fell on his chest. It took fifteen minutes for him to die because a neighbor thought he had finished working on it until he saw his legs sticking out from under car and paramedics got there as he died. Not a good way to go.

don't die

the most horrible way to die... is having your worst fear realized, constantly. As in the Sandman series by Neil Gaiman - the constant curse of waking from a dream-nightmare, only to realize that you're in a nightmare again, and the cycle repeats, ad infinitum. Your mind dies, eventually, and therefore you die.

Burning takes the cake. I was listening to an NPR story on a kid that set himself on fire in his bathroom and it brough tears to my eyes. He said it hurt horribly initially, but when he decided to live and put himself out shock set in.
|
Or dying from a 12hour nose bleed.
|
being buried alive in a box or something and suffocating to death :O, firstly the claustrophobia would take over, the fear would be so great.. oh makes me shiver just thinking about it
|
Jumping off the empire state building and landing on a bicycle with no seat.
Heh, but seriously, the one that always sticks out in my mind is how that one guy got slowly impaled in Saving Private Ryan. You know, the part when he was fighting with the German guy, and they're both struggling with the knife but it sloooooooowly gets pushed into his heart? Shudder. |

Buried alive seems to be a recurring choice. I read once that, upon examination of many old caskets in a European graveyard (they had to be relocated) that over 1/4 of them had scratchmarks on the inside of the lid - a sure sign that the person buried had recovered consciousness and tried unsuccesfully to escape. I guess in those days they were more likely to bury you if you had your eyes closed too long. In fact, some caskets had strings attached to bells on the surface . . . just in case. Anyway - if you believe in reincarnation, this would explain a lot of claustrophobia cases, eh? |
Buried alive or drowning. Drowning would be pretty quick, but buried alive would just suck because you either have to wait to run out of air or starve to death.

Prince_Albert, please do not confuse being at war with Japan a terrorist act. Ten million Chinese(yes more than the Nazis and the Jews) were killed by the Japanese. Do you know what the Japanese called China? The southern resource area. They did not even consider the people who lived there. When Japan attacked us without provocation on December 7, 1941, would you consider that a terrorist act? We dropped the bomb on Japan because we were at war with them. We saved more lives by showing them that we could destroy them, and we convinced them that maybe their emperor was not God.

How about licked to death by a bunch of cats?
Their sandpaper-like tongue slowly scraping away your skin til you start bleeding. 'Course, they would start biting long before that. ;) |

Oh yeah being eaten alive by a load of piranhas or sharks or something would be pretty bad too. |
After seeing Final Destination 2..I have decided that burning in a fire would have to be the worse way to die.
At the beggining of the movie when it shows the guy burning in the car and screaming trying to get out of his seat belt...That has to suck. I would not wanna die like that. |
some of the more gruesome methods in Foxe's Book of Martyrs come to mind - the romans (and Nero especially) were especially creative when it came to killing Christians
my first choice for worst death would be crucifixion. You die of suffocation slowly but you have spikes driven through your wrists and/or feet (depends on method used to attach the person being put to death). Especially hard when you have a spike driven through your shattered wrist and are fully awake throughout the entire experience. link |
sarving to death would be bad and also burning to death would be pain full
|
Being burnt or flayed.

OK, I'm gonna list two old torture methods used by different cultures WAY back in the day.
The first I'm gonna call The Saw. You would be suspended in the air upside down by your captors totally naked. Two torturers would get on either side of you, and starting at your crotch, would draw a two man saw slowly through your entire body. The worst part? Being upside down ensures a fully oxygenated brain, meaning that you would stay completely conscious the entire time. The second one is for all of you who fear dying slowly. The victims head would be secured between two planks of wood with the victim in a standing upright position, and then he would be standing on a pile of flat rocks. One time every day the torturers would remove one of the rocks, slowly choking the victim to death over many days. The victim was fed to ensure he stayed alive long enough to suffer. |
I went to high school with a kid who died in what had to be one of the worst ways possible. He parked his car on a muddy incline, it started either rolling or sliding away, and he tried to grab it. He slipped on the mud, fell under the car, and got pinned down. He probably would have survived had it not been running, but the catalytic converter burned through his stomach and intestines and he went into septic shock. It was a half hour before anyone found him. He was still alive but it was too late. The fire department had to scrape him off the exhaust.
I knew a nurse who was on duty when he came in. She knew his mom; calling her and explaining what happened was a pretty traumatic experience. |
Being licked to death by Bea Aurthor.
|
the worst way to go is drowning. think how it feels when water fills your lungs.

I would agree with those thinking a long painful death would be the worse. Knowing that there is nothing anyone can do to help you would be hard.
|
Having a head full of acid, being guillotined with my head plopping directly into the bowl of a catapult that then launches me (all 8 pounds, as it were) into a cage of hungry pigs.
That would just about be the worst experience I could have of dying (and yes, I do recall some anecdotes here and there indicating a certain amount of time that your head lives on after being decapitated). |
How about being staked out on an ant-hill with honey poured over you.
Or being staked to the ground with your eye-lids cut off so you have to stare into the sun. Or, having ropes tied to all four of your limbs and four different horses, then whipping the horses into....well, you get the picture. The Apache were very creative torturers, eh? |
i think a really bad way to die would be like in space with a space suit on where you just float out into the universe until you die. 1) You die all alone 2) You starve/dehydrate to death 3)space is scary 4) anal probes

I was about to make a mention to this torture (that you taught me about previously, heh), but you beat me to it. I can't imagine anything worse than that. I almost freak ou just thinkin' about that...and then imagining the blood running down your body and face...yikes dude, I need to get out of this thread. |
Mongolian Box.

Rapid decompression. You get the suffocating and the exploding at the same time
|
Ok so I am a wuss....... but any Death that happens to me when I am not sleeping is gonna be the worst. Hopefully, that will be the only time I die.
But if i have to pick a horrible way to die..... I guess a psycho with a belt sander could do alot of damage before you finallly died. |
Any situation where I would have to watch someone I love or care about suffer and die before me.
|
.
being crushed VEERRy slowly by 2 steel walls with you in the middle. I WIN :D
|
in your sleep, do not go gently...
|
Basically any death where there's nothing you can do about it, but you can try anyways-- ie drowning from extremely deep water, swimming as hard as you can toward the surface and not making it. I've had a few times where that's almost happened, I go to deep and it feels like I'm not gonna make it back to the top... scares the hell out of me every time...
|
Never really thought up a good way to die....
But I'ld have to say contracting ebola would be at the top of my worst way to die list. Just sorta having all my internal organs melting away and then explosively becoming external organs through every available oriface. either that or being a captured soldier during the vietnam war. Bamboo manicures up to my knuckles, redhot poker up the ass, or a glass rod shoved into my dick then smashed with a brick. The Viet Cong were veeeeery creative. |
Well there is plenty of shitty ways to die but talking from first hand experience almost drowning is scary as fudge. Its bad when you just want to breathe and you are struggling for air but all that happens is a mouth full of water as you choke your way upwards but still no air.
Secondly though, if any of you have read FAST FOOD NATION, some meat packing places are very dangerous and dying from a meat grinder or bone crusher or basically anything is horrible! |
Ya know I dunno why people think if you die in your sleep you don't feel it. Maybe if you were in a coma where you don't feel anything but just asleep? If you're sleeping and I go up and shove a sewing needle into your hand you think you're not gonna feel it just cause you're asleep? It's stupid to think that unconscious does not mean brain dead and without feeling. Trust me....You'll feel it unless it's someone going up and shooting you in the back of the head in which case even if you were awake you wouldn't feel it. Don't confuse slightly unaware with no feeling at all.
