Great-Grandfather Robbed for Crack Money
Associated Press

FORT PAYNE, Ala. - A Cherokee County brother and sister have been charged with robbing their great-grandfather of $250 and leaving him for dead, police said.

DeKalb County Sheriff Cecil Reed said the siblings apparently wanted money to buy crack cocaine. Both are in DeKalb County Jail on first-degree robbery charges, Reed said.

Reed said Ernest C. Goza, 89, of the Mt. Vernon community in DeKalb County, heard a knock at his door at 4 a.m. on Sept. 14 and found his great-granddaughter, 27-year-old Jennifer Goza, standing at the doorstep.

Goza, who had been living alone and in poor health since his wife died, let her inside, Reed said. After a very short visit, she went outside and then came back in the house with her brother, Waylon Curt Goza, the sheriff said.

Reed said Waylon Goza began beating his great-grandfather with a wooden stick. Jennifer Goza then took Ernest Goza's wallet, and the two then left the house, Reed said.

"He was badly beaten, and it took all his strength to get up and go over to his son's house for help," Reed told the Fort Payne Times-Journal.

Ernest Goza's son took him to DeKalb Baptist hospital, and he later was transferred to Erlanger Hospital in Chattanooga, Tenn., Reed said. Goza spent three days in Erlanger's trauma unit and was unable to speak to investigators until Monday.

But I thought using drugs only hurt the people using them.

I'm well aware of your stance on drugs and I could be missing the point here; this story is about crack addicts and you won't find many casual weed smokers or weekend ravers willing to speak up for crack addicts.

These people should be made an example of. Make it a 'reality' TV show called Cold Turkey. Brother and sister in a cell, deprived of their crack. See how low they will go to get their hit.

6'8, we rarely agree on any topic at all except music, but i respect most of your opinions.... but that 'i thought drugs only hurt drug users' comment is exceptionally shallow, dude.

as many of my friends here know, i fucking hate how drugs make me feel (I speak of narcs for severe pain. legal but still rough), but i know a lot of people who do a lot of drugs that, until they told m e, i wouldn't have known. most are real friends in real life.

yes, drugs are easily, easily abused but that comment is way too broad. to take your statement seriously we have to say automobiles should be demonized, every weapon ever should be demonized, every medication should be demonized, your excercise equipment should be demonized, heavy metal should be demonized, mosh pits..

dude. we know your stance. i like your stance against drugs, but that's just kind of silly.

ps: the two kids deserve to die. today.
fuck em.

Well put Z. You have a knack for making the most introspective observations, around here. Mac had a quote from you a while ago that me and him were thinking about becoming a "Z-ist" practicing "Z-ism"

Kudos. Well spoken, as always.

Hmm, I'm not going to jump into the drugs/legalization debate, but I would like to say that people like that make me think that outlawing cruel and unusual punishment was a mistake.

Having a father as an ex-dealer puts me in a tight spot when it comes to choosing a side on the drug debate. I'd have to say that I'm against them but also that the spark for violence could come from anyplace.

Why not legalize drugs and tax them to hell?

the drug cartels wouldn't let something like that happen. They have the most to lose by legalizing drugs.
