my first name sounds like a hairlip dog barking. I changed my last name 15 yrs ago cause I wanted something easier to spell, and didn't want my kids to grow up with the hassle of it. Plus, my dad was just a sperm donor, so I had no loyalty to it.

I ususally answer to anything though. I had a hs teacher call me Phil out of the blue, and he called me that the whole year.

Jeff here, but parents didn't know how to spell full name, co it came out Jefferey.

Doesn't bother me, makes me unique. I only hear the full name when I'm in trouble.

The last name is a big issue though. It's french and hard to spell and pronounce. NOBODY ever gets it right, even after I tell them how to pronounce it.

The only people to ever pronounce it right the first time were my French teacher in HS (go figure) and a hotel clerk in Canada (again, big shock).

The best part about it is I can tell when a telemarketer is on the phone.

Joshua which is far too common a name for my taste. Though, I actually sign off on emails and such with "Joshie"... guess it's just more personable.

I was almost named after the Native American leader Sequoia from which the trees get their name. I'm part Chickasaw so my mother thought it'd be appropriate. My father thought I'd be taunted for it so vetoed it. Makes me wonder what life would have been like with that as my name.
