Are you a hypocrite?
 

I am.
On all sorts of subjects

I get mad at women for being superficial when they are after guys with money, yet I'm only interested in good looking women. (for the most part)

I know it isn't something to be very proud of, nut I am a hypocrite.

I think I probably am, but when I find myself being one I try to put a stop to it.

I really do go through life thinking about what I do and I try to take an "outside" perspective of myself when dealing with others, and I find this generally results in them having more respect and being more friendly with me.

But we all slip, and I have called people hypocrites and been called a hypocrite more than once before, and I am pretty sure there was truth to their claims.

But I try to avoid being one if at all possible. It's not as if I enjoy being hypocritical and pissing people off. But like many other things in life, it happens on occassion regardless of what is intended. :)

This word when used in arguments generally pisses everyone off so if I see someone who IS hypocritical i try to say it some way else.

I am an environmentalist who forgets my canvas shopping bags every time I go to the grocery store. I don't shop at the organic groc store because it's expensive. I don't drive the best car in terms of gas mileage because it was what was available to me and it's too expensive to go buy a new Insight. So much for ideals at any cost :-/

I decry a materialist lifestyle but I own a house and just bought $60 worth of clothes I don't really need. I have way too much crap. I try to make up for this by giving to charities that help the poor around the world, but it's still hypocritical.

I think it's difficult to abide 100% by your own ideals, but striving to live up to them and acknowledging where you fall short goes a long way towards redemption.

Heh, just the other day I was in the car with Jinya and berating her ex for wanting a free ride and doing nothing.

I immediately remarked that it was probably the most hypocritical thing I've done in my life. ;)

To be honest... I am a hypocrit, I strive not to be, but it's extremely difficult. I simply try not to judge people, and avoid pointing fingers or calling out people's hypocrisy, because I am just as guilty of the same thing on some level.

I believe everyone is a hypocrite in some way. I know I am. Everyone I've come to know is a hypocrite in some way or another. One of the most common ways people are hypocrites is when they can dish it out, but can't take it when the table turns.

I will sometimes point out people's hypocrisy if I suspect they are not aware of it. To be aware of a problem is one of the first steps to correcting it.

Yeah, I suppose that if I were to be totaly honest with myself, I'd have to say that, yes some of my words and deeds are hypocritical. It's not something that I'm proud of, but at least I'm being honest. Sometimes it's just to inconvienient or difficult to do the "right thing". I think that I'm gonna have to work on that...thanks baaa, that question made me think a little.

I wouldn't be a hypocrite if teh state of CT would just sign over the ownershipo of the damn roads to me.

I am a hypocrite but it doesn't bother me. Everybody indulges in some form of hypocrasy and I'm ok with it.

The thing with me is I don't like it when someone takes advantage of something that ends up hurting me or my family/loved ones, but I can easily do the same to someone else without remorse.

And I guess that's not so nice at all, but I don't do anything all that bad and nothing too bad ever happens to us that we can't get over.

Agreed. We all shove a foot down our throats from time to time.

I am, but I can't think of any instances atm, I just remember thinking to myself on several occasions "man I am suuch a hypocrite!" not that it ever stops me from being such a bastard to whoever it is I'm harassing :P

I suppose it is a loaded term for the disconnect between the ideal and the real and other similar aspects of the dichotomous nature of our existence.

i believe that everyone is to a certain extent, no matter how hard you try you will do the same thing you dont want others to do.

there are degress of hyprocisy though. I try to be in the smaller degree, although it depends on the pretentiousness and seriousness of your statement that you're then contradicting with whatever actions etc

I have no doubt that I am in some way... but for some reason I cant think of any. Maybe I will have to get someone to point them out to me.

it's tough not to be as a human. but i think, as in so many things, being aware of the problem is a big step........plenty of people are consistently hypocritical without ever realizing it.

Yes... but not on purpose. When someone's calls me on it I usually correct myself. I think that's what a person should do. Why should you say to not do something if you do it?
