I just use avatars as a way to pick out different users that usually have interesting and intelligent replies in threads.

they can be symbols of individuallity

wonder how many times I have had a certain person
look over my shoulder and say --
"WHY IS HER TITS STICKING OUT??"--

YA GOT TO LOVE IT---

1) Makes you easier to find when you're looking for your posts.

2) Shows a bit about you, your interests, personality, etc.

Avatars are great. There are so many good reasons to have one and most of the reasons have already been posted. I particularly like the way Jadzia uses her avatar. :) I also like to see the other avatars, especially animated ones. they just add some personality to the post. I really like Spec's avatar too. I am already planning what I will create for my avatar when it comes time for me to upload one.

I think that one should always have goals.

Avatars give each person their own flair. I think that self-expression is a good thing, just as selecting a screenname is.

Maybe I'm wierd though. I like the avatars.

TFP does it tastfully though. NO PICTURES IN THE SIGNATURE IS AWESOME!! I love that. I cant wait for 2000 pictures in a thread to load....unless theyre in the boobies thread ;)
