Dog, the other meat under the title of man's best friend?
|
eeeeewwwww
|
Id like to try dog some time.
|
That should be on their Tourist Packet...
GET REAL HOT DOGS HERE!!!! diff'rent strokes.... |
Different cultures, Different acceptablility.
Remember that when you are eating your hamburger, or pork chop.. that someone in another culture finds that disgusting. Hopefully that will help certain people keep their hateful comments to themselves. |
To add to what Ganguro said, horse meat is popular in some European countries.
So it is totally dependent on culture. While I won't be heading to the local pound for a pound of Rover, if I were traveling overseas I might try it. |
I bet you wouldnt even know you were eating dog... You'd be thinking "This is some mighty good steak you've got here!"
And they would giggle, knowing you just chowed down on Spot. *shudder* |
I don't know that I'm even against the idea, really; it just strikes me as a bit strange. I know it's only because we get closer emotionally to dogs in our society. *shrugs* I might give it a shot were I overseas.
|
My mom says dog tastes a little like lamb. I'm still waiting to get a chance to try it.

see and lamb is something that other cultures eat daily...
not to mention ... whale... |
I've ate a dog before.
Oh, wait, you mean the four legged variety! No, haven't tried that yet. Don't think I will, at least, not knowingly. Edited: Removed eatin'/replaced with ate. Didn't want you all to think I wasn't edumacated. |
Cats and Dogs have it pretty damn good if you ask me. They were lucky when humans decided that they made good pets :).
|
the only dogs i could ever imagine eating, are small yappy dogs.
but sadly, i think they´d be the nasty, tasteless ones. |

We were actually having a local problem with some Asians (I think Hmong as that is the majority here) stealing dogs around the neighborhoods to eat. People were loosing dogs constantly. That was a few years back. Go ahead and eat the kind of meat you want to but DO not eat MY pet.
|
It doesn’t bother me at all if people want to eat dogs. They probably taste better than a lot of the shit food we have here.
|
well, there won't ever be any Fido on my dinner plate!
no felines either. i don't care if it tastes like chicken or not. |

Here in Korea, there is the (in)famous dog soup, which I haven't tried and don't think I want to. A lot of older male Koreans will eat it because it is supposed to make you strong and better in the sack.
There is a specific breed of dog (couldn't tell you which) that is bred for consumption -- they are farmed the way Americans farm cows. They'd never cook a little poodle or something like that -- lots of people like to keep poodles and such as pets. There's also just not enough meat on most dogs to make it worthwhile... Most of my ESL students are not fond of the whole dog-eating thing, but some like it. |

I want that Dog in the picture...Soo Adorable:D

Different strokes for different folks I guess. Even if I was in a culture where eating dogs was normal I wouldn't be able to do it.

Oh so it the whole "look at how cute he is! How could anyone eat something like that? Heartless bastards!"....well two can play that game buster! http://www.all-creatures.org/anex/pig-01.jpg http://www.all-creatures.org/anex/pig-02.jpg http://us.ent4.yimg.com/movies.yahoo...r/director.jpg http://www.thebirder.com/photos/mallard%20ducks.jpg http://www.all-creatures.org/anex/sheep-lamb-left.jpg For the record, I would eat all of the above, including the dog. |
As long is it isnt the dog youve had from a pup, and love, and cudle with....who cares? Meat is meat! My aunt had a cow that was more of a pet....It died...We didnt eat it.
There is a differance between munching on a pet and a food animal. But nothing says they cant be the same species. |
ok, so we´ve discussed dogs.
but would y´all eat a cat? http://www.bootscooters.com/dancing_kittens2.jpg |
I see nothing wrong with eating of dog unless of course there was emotional attachments to said dog then I would have to have a pizza delivery or something
|
I don't see pigs as adorable at all. The duck isn't all that great looking either. The baby lamb is kinda cute though.
I could never eat a dog. I would throw up if I ever found out after the fact. I just love 'em too much. I suppose I've just grown too attached to my culture. |
Thats just sick in my opinion but then again cultures differ and so does cuisine within these cultures....and i guess if they do have a problem with stray dogs...just a thought, can u catch rabbies from eating a dog with rabies? huh...who knows...maybe a google is coming up!

CSflim, sure all those critters are cute, but... I don't know, don't you think dogs have personalities?

Yeah I guess that's an acceptable arguemnt. How about we breed a useless breed of dog? Would it be okay for me to eat that? |
Yeah, eat a poodle. Stupid, useless poodle. We should fill vast expanses of farmland with poodles, pump 'em full of antibiotics and poodle growth hormone and then fry 'em up.
|
{sigh} CSflim, enjoy your fido burger.
|
well, if they've got too many dogs....and alot of hungry people....
what ever works I guess. perhaps they could use a copy of this new asian cook book I just picked up, "101 ways to wok your dog" |
