Need the inside track on the DMV - quick!

I've got to get my driver's license here in my new state. But, if you're over 45 days late doing it, you have to pay a penalty. Well, I've lived here since November, so I'm way late. My question is, if I lie on my license application, will they know? And if they do, will I be in worse trouble?

Can anybody help me?

How much is the penalty fee? I'd say find out if its worth trying... if the fine is only $20, it might be worth it to go ahead and pay it... cause if you lie and get caught, its probably going to be 10x that much. Weigh your options.

The fine for me will be $75.00.

Well, I found out the answer the hard way. I did the honest thing and told them that I had been a SC resident since November, and got the fine. While I was writing the check, I asked the lady if I had lied, would I have been caught. She said, "No. We trust whatever you put down." AAAAAHHHH!!!!!

So, if anyone else is ever in this predicament, heed my warning. I hope I've helped someone.

I think it is the insurance and registration that matters a lot more when moving to a new state and not re-registering. Technically, your insurance might not be valid if you are in your new state too long without a new plate, etc.
