Little Doggie Needed Seeing Eye Person :)
http://www.abc.net.au/news/newsitems/s935614.htm Pup gives new meaning to seeing-eye dog A stray dog has been given a new leash on life in Thailand thanks to a veterinarian who has outfitted the near-blind pup with a pair of eyeglasses, a report said. "Srinuan", a six-month-old mutt who spent his dog-day afternoons bumping into tree trunks, fire hydrants and humans, was recently fitted with a pair of prescription goggles, the Nation newspaper said. It cited the canine-caring deeds of vet Kiatisak Rojnirand, who had the dog's eyes checked and discovered Srinuan's visual impairment was similar to humans and could be corrected with prescription glasses. Mr Kiatisak fitted the pup with stylish $US24 yellow goggles equipped with a 2.5 prescription paid for by a foundation which treats injured strays, the English-language daily said. While Bangkok can appear overwhelmed by stray dogs, the creatures have been roundly embraced by Thais, particularly as the most prominent advocate of stray dogs is Thailand's revered King Bhumibol Adulyadej. The monarch's favourite dog, Khun Thongdeang, was rescued from the streets as a puppy and taken to the royal palace. In this predominantly Buddhist nation it is taboo to kill pets and unwanted or stray dogs and cats are often taken to temples where the monks feed and care for them. -- AFP that's just plain fuckin cool :):) |
That's too cool! Wish people in this country would take note. Particularly NC - we have one of the highest shelter kill rates in the country. A dubious distinction.

Awww... :D I gotta wonder how often those are going to get broken/lost/need replacing though, I wouldn't think a dog would take very good care of his glasses.
