Working for the man

So it's Saturday night and I'm sober, working on work related stuff for one of my bosses because I volunteered! To a wuss-out shall I a martyr die. *sigh* So, who else hates their job?

IC3 08-30-2003 07:55 PM

I hate my job most days, But there are days I don't mind it too much.

Penguin 08-30-2003 11:34 PM

I work at a supermarket where budget cuts mean at any given time there are about half as many staff working than as needed.
Then we get blamed when the work doesnt get finished, gotta love huge faceless corporations.

Spidey 08-31-2003 04:28 AM

my job sux but the people i work with are cool, so it balances it out.

cchris 08-31-2003 04:36 AM

I actually like my job despite the fact that I had to do a six hour shift both Sat and Sunday arvo.
Spent both mornings here and thats OK,but the w/e has been isolated except for workmates.
I fucked my PC at work too this arvo cause I brought in heaps of CD's that ended up not loading properly and just froze the fucker.
I hope that because I was the only volunteer it will negate the inconvenience of getting IT the extra idiot in to fix it.

i don't like the gig i'm in as much as i've liked previous gigs, but it's still better than not having one at all.

gloveshot3 08-31-2003 06:00 AM

work at the top of a factory floor--sux big time
deliver pizza on week-ends--best job ever

splck 08-31-2003 06:07 AM

I love my job. I wake up with a smile on my face everyday when I realize how good my job is.
I had some shit jobs in the past, but I try not to think about them.

Baldrick 08-31-2003 07:08 AM

I love my job, but it's really high stress. Over the last few months I've actually been concerned about developing health problems because of it...

yoshi 08-31-2003 09:32 AM

I like my job, I just don't like the way I get treated sometimes. It's beginning to stress me out

PayUp 08-31-2003 09:34 AM

the boss is like a diaper... always on my ass and full of shit!

I'm a webmaster, but it's technically private contracting. I work when I want and how long I want. The job itself is quite awesome.

Private contracting is the way to go.

Aside from being a student I work produce at a local farm/market store. I have to say that i am satisfied with my job...all-be-it as a part timer. Would never want to do it as a living, but it's better than all the shit jobs that are out there for a student these days.

aintyoboyfriend 08-31-2003 02:58 PM

I actually love my job. The only things that I don't like are the long hours, lack of weekends, and the stress of working on comission. Other than that I love what I do, and have worked there long enough that I kind of run my own show.

ARTelevision 09-01-2003 08:55 AM

I love my 3 jobs! I just go from one to the other and multitask my way through the day. I guess I have worked my way to the top. I never thought of it quite that way, but I guess it's the case. It did take a whole lifetime to do it, though.

tinfoil 09-01-2003 05:22 PM

My job has quite alot of stress and I wouldn't have it any other way. Seriously.

I don't like constant 9-5 stuff. I like having to put in a little extra throughout the week. I like my job that much.

Of course, the stocked beer-fridge in my office helps. A lot.

SkanK0r 09-02-2003 11:37 AM

'nother delivery driver here. ANd it IS totally awesome.

laxative 09-02-2003 10:37 PM

delivery sucks ass. The novelty of gettin' high and driving around listening to the radio wore out a long time ago. Now I count gear shifts (takes 85 shifts to get across town and back) and want to scratch my eyes out every time a customer wants to talk to me.

rockogre 09-03-2003 06:58 AM

My job is different every day, I never know what might happen but it is always interesting.

The only downside is getting called at 3:00 A.M. to come to work in a blinding rainstorm or a snowstorm. Nothing like walking out of the house into a 60 mile an hour horizontal rainstorm and driving around downed trees to get to the office.

It's even worse when my power is out and I have to get ready in the dark.

None of the bosses want to know anything about what is happening at 3:00 A.M. but all the bastards want to come in and Monday morning quarterback during the daytime.

SkanK0r 09-03-2003 12:12 PM

Lax: Bah! I just listen ot music, talk to my friend on the phone. I bring a laptop for when we're slow. Watch movies on the laptop DVD... it works!

I work as a medical tech, I take piss and pour it from one vial to another. Then take the vial, do a bunch of chemistry (ill spare you all the details), and run various tests on it.

On good days I get to work with plasma, not as messy as urine, but it is possible to catch hepatitis or HIV from.

And when all the tests are run, you find out some 2 year old kid, has a genetic disease which will more than likely prevent him/her from seeing anything past their fifth birthday.

Hopefully this job is temperary, as im planning on going to medical school.

So when you're a doc, instead of writing your results about that 2 year old kid on a lab slip, you'll have you look his parents in the eye and tell them.

Being a doc has big positives, but in this day and age, bigger negatives. Take a good look before leaping...
