Road Rage: Share your most recent experience
It doesnt matter whether you were giving or receiving the road rage, What does matter is that you explain what you were thinking at the time it happened. Dig deep and let us know what you felt and what you'd change in the future.
My experience: The other day a fellow in a bronco was trying to change lanes in front of my car and he started swearing at me though the open top on his Ford. He said I was trying to block him. ( I was just trying to get turned around as I had taken a wrong turn earlier). As i changed lanes in front of his truck at the next light he drove forward and hit the side of my car. Then HE FREAKED ON ME. He kicked my car several times and threatened to kill me. He threatened to beat me up. I was not afraid as he was at least a foot shorter than me but just the same he had my attention. Later I was mad at myself for not seeing the early warning signs. Anyhow my car is dented now and he is going to have to pay for it. There were plenty of witnesses. Thats my story what's yours? |

I was driving down a side residential street(two lanes of parked cars one lane for driving) and as I reached the corner a car driving down the intersecting street made a fast tight turn(didn't slow down didn't signal) and blocked me in. I honked(they could have pulled over a bit to let me out). Instead the guy got out and walked towards my car swearing at me so i backed up. I'm not racist and I dont want to sound like a bigot but there were two guys in the car, both black and I was pretty intimidated by that especially since it was obvious they weren't from the neighbourhood and they were pretty ghetto.

A woman honked at me because I was stopped behind someone who was waiting to turn. I didn't have enough space to go around. After the third honk while the person in front of me was turning, I gave her the finger, floored it, and left a nice cloud of tire smoke for her to drive through.
I'm usually very calm, but she was really pissing me off. |

My only experience was in 99. They'd closed half the freeway to do road repairs, and the merge was insane. This guy decides he's waited long enough and cuts me off, only there was nowhere for him to go, so I slammed on my brakes and everyone in my car laughed about how close it was.
Then he gets out of his car, comes up to my window and asks if I think it's cool to ride people's asses (most expletives deleted). I tried to sound calm and collect, but this fella clearly could beat me up, so I probably sounded like a wimp. I think I said something like " Hey, it's hot and we miscommunicated. Sorry to have upset you." Mostly I was thinking, how fast is he? Can I out-run him? Is ramming his car while he's hitting me still a crime?

These are really good examples of what I think is pretty normal human behaviour. Thats not to say anyones behaviour was particularly bad or good , just normal. My personal opinion is that we, as humans have Built/evolved/engineered a society in which frustration can run rampant. what's worse is that we each have a two ton weapon (our car) in our hands. Some of the things that seem so shocking on television should have been expected had we a better unnderstanding of human behaviour when society was first evolving to what it is today.
Thanks for the posts |

This guy was on my ass, so I slowed down to about 20 miles in a 45 miles zone, drove that way for maybe a mile, before I had too turn off. The passenger yelled out the window "Fuck you and your driving" I gave them finger and yelled back " Come on fuckers." The then signal for me to come on. I was half hoping they would follow for I remember there was a shovel outside of the garage. I would have used it to beat in the truck as much as possibly before they took it away and beat me with it.

Man I have several. A mild example just 15 minutes ago. Some of the worst drivers live in Memphis, TN. I lived there for 18 years. I moved to Florida to get away from the bad drivers and big city.
The posted speed limit here is 45 mph. I was doing 50 when out of nowhere a car cuts in front of me doing about 30 mph....You guessed it, they drove 600 miles from Memphis just to piss me off! When I was 19 I was riding my motorcycle doing the speed limit. An old woman gets on my ass in a big Dodge and starts honking the horn. Then the light I'm approaching turns yellow and I stop rather quickly. She stops just in time...then creeps forward and rams my rear tire...I start thinking this old gal is nuts and just pull up on the sidewalk to let her go by. As she passes she holds up a 60 year old finger and calls me a slow SOB and to stay the 'F' off the road on my little motorbike....Almost mad enough to catch up to her and let her have it. I could go on, but this is starting to piss me off.

Umm… giving or receiving?
I hate pedestrians, especially ones who think they have the right of way even when jaywalking. This evening three drunk men tried to cross in front of me when I had the green light. I revved the engine, took off fast, and slammed on my brakes before reaching the crosswalk they were in. (They were in no danger, I am a PROFESSIONAL driver. Don't try this at home.) One threw his half-full beer can and MISSED the car (at a range of about 8 feet). I leaned toward the open passenger window and yelled, "I'll get you next time" before speeding away. They don't call me RoadRage for nothing. |
