I've got about 8000, of which about 3000 are rips from my own CDs.
I downloaded fewer than 100 songs in the past year however. |
699 tracks in playlist, average track length: 3:45
Playlist length: 43 hours 43 minutes 45 seconds All illegally downloaded. If it weren't for peer to peer sharing I wouldn't have found over 3/4ths of the songs I love. Some day when I'm financially stable or if some sort of effecient way to buy MP3s in mass quantities is introduced, I will develop a completly legit collection. I rarely like more than one or two songs on a CD even the least bit. Paying for the entire thing to get two songs is absurd. |
one billion.
about 10 - but from usenet/newsgroups, not crap file sharing...
I have downloaded about 8000 but have deleted about half cause they were crap.
I have 0 MP3's on my PC but my brother has about 11,000 downloaded (and kept). He only keeps the super-quality ones as well. Downloaded...and not kept? Maybe 25,000 at least? I suppose this thread is talking about how many you've DL'ed and kept, in which case my brother has 11,000. No bullshit .wavs, videogame soundtracks, or ripped songs either.

Right now I've got 15.96 GB, or 3490 songs on my computer.
circa 800.
roughly 8-10k
<--og napster user. werd |
Zero.
Part dial-up, part mistrust or the file sharing apps., and mostly just too darn lazy to get into it.....when it was a bit more socially acceptable. |
About 400 songs all told.
Around 350 songs.
A few hundred. Generally the quality is uneven so I download to "sample" a band or artist I've never heard before. If I like, I buy the CD otherwise I dump it.
Downloading is a good way to get the older/rarer tracks though, I've found some gems that you cant buy in the music stores anymore. |
200-300
guesstimate about 200, but I don't think any of them are going to get me in trouble. Mostly weird duets or unique covers, or classic country staples and other weird stuff. I tried purposefully to not download popular hit music, not because I thought it would keep me safe -it was before anyone worried about it, but because you can always find the popular songs, but I got a kick out of finding something rare or funny.
10 Gigs of music, don't know how many in total but everytime i click on the properties of that folder, sheesh, on big mother.... :)
About 200 songs that I could've bought in a store and that are protected by the RIAA. But I've got like at least 1000 songs that you cant buy easily and are not protected by the RIAA (mostly game songs)
i have a HD that is crashed with roughly 60 Gigs of music and i have about another 5 Gigs here on this computer not exactly sure how many that is
I download more movies and software than I do music because I don't listen to music that frequently(*GASP*) so since the time of napster and SX, I'd say my grand total is at about 200 (most of thats gone now).
about 14,000 mp3s on my HDDs, another 9 DVDs burned of dj sets, and another 200 of burned CDs. just over 700 albums. now considering that i actually own (i.e. have bought) over 620 albums (all CDs, no vinyl, no cassettes), i guess my illegal-to-legal ratio is pretty even-steven.
0.... *waves to RIAA* =P
of course I myself don't have anything (if the RIAA checks, that is, wink wink). but I know "people" that have a few dozen Gb of mp3 downloaded, plus a few hundred movies..
just im mp3s, I have 4000 plus change, but about 1200 are actually from CDs that I own or owned, so I guess they dont count? I have a thing for high quality music though, so usually I try to avoid downloading if a friend has the CD :D
in movies - none really, havent installed codecs since the last install, and prefer movies on my TV anyway because all teh download have shiat quality. |
Don't know about 6 gigs (and counting). Newsgroups are a valuable MP3 recource, love it
I refuse to answer this question on the grounds of the 5th amendment.
I have about 800 songs I have downloaded, about 500 I own.
For mac users: For one off tracks, porn, etc. use Limewire (OS 9 + OS X) Poisoned (OS X only) Poisoned > Limewire For albums, applications, stock images etc.: Carracho (OS 9 + OS X) Carrracho works on the 'you scratch my back, I scratch yours' idea. Basically, you go up to a server admin, offer to trade the latest Metallica album for an account, they say sure, you upload to the server, you have access to 100s of gigs of well organised fast music. If you have a decent library already (2gigs of albums is decent) go to pokeys tunes, upload your album list, and the admin will most likely give you an account. Quite the good server. |
"I have officially downloaded zero songs." G5 Todd!
Vermin, I just bought a set of 8 CDs, off Amazon called " One Hit Wonders and Hard 2 get hits" It has Hocus Pocus on it.
Now to tell you how old I am I think I still have it on an 8 track. Not fessing up on downloading anything. Look for me on the Paranoia forum :) |
hmmm... I've downloaded a few bonus tracks that I did not get off of my edition of whatever CD I bought does that count? Probably those cheap bastards!
i have abotu 650 d/l but i am continuing to d/l more! although i dont share what i do d/l ! I feel that if its out ther eto d/l i will, but i refuse to share it! I dant agree that the riaa should charge an outrageous sum for d/ling them though! I would buy cds if they where not soo outrageous!! i have alos started downloading dvd rips
I dont really know, but one thing is for sure I will never buy another CD again. When all that crap went down with little girls getting sued and such I backed everything up and stopped sharing. Screw the RIAA. They have been jacking musicians and the people for a long long time.
shhh.... theyre listening... theyre listening... ive said too much
I dunno how manyof you know this, but recently there was a song posted on zug.com, where a phone # for the RIAA was given - 202-7750101, if I remember right.

6497 tracks in playlist
Estimated playlist length: 1056 hours 51 minutes 17 seconds |
Right now 354 but I'm getting ready to delete a fair chunk of them. I just have to get myself into the right frame of mind.
3 trillion - go fuck yourselves RIAA
Probably close to 3500
20Meg
They're not going to bust you for downloading, only uploading. |
Used to have about 4000, but lost them all during a HD crash. Dont have nearly as many since the whole Napster incident, now I usually just buy the CD's or burn them from a friend since I've grown sick and tired of Kazaa lite.
I find it amazing how this thread just keeps on going. Thanks for the excellent input from everyone. I have learned a few things from all of these posts so far.
Here they are: 1. Few people have any sympathy for the RIAA. 2.The RIAA suing their customers is working to alienate many many of those customers 3. Many people don't beleive that file shareing is stealing. 4. While people dont mind supporting the artist they feel the recording company rips every one off. 5. Many people really don't understand that the Artist and the recording company are actually one. If the RIAA suffers so does the artist. Thanks for your input everyone. |
Okay. Cops can trace you through this forum I'm pretty sure. I don't think they can use this as evidence, but they can get alerted and put you under surveilence. So, say hypothetically I knew this guy who posted on tfproject some times. His dad is a cop and has about 20 cds worth of mp3's. (I'm talkin mp3 cd's not audio cd's). Yeah, that's a good cop. Love ya dad! I mean.. er... um...
My brother broke 13,000 last night. He's one of those people that are downloading just to get every song possible before something bad happens to P2P. Ha ha! I think it's taking up like 50 GB.
-Lasereth |
Several thousand. The more obnoxious the RIAA gets, the less likely it is that I will ever again buy a CD. I used to buy CD's of my favorite artists whether I had the MP3's or not, to support them. Then I found out where the money was going, said fuck it, and spent my money on concert tickets instead. That way the money actually goes to the people creating the music.
800 or so
Since Napster, probably... 200. I really only get songs I truly like.
