Teeth Dreams......

This thread was inspired by GSRIDER......

How many of you have bad dreams about your teeth? I have this reoccuring dream......the details are always different, but the theme is always the same. I wake up sweating, usually feeling my teeth to make sure they are still there. I would have these images of being in a restaurant, or park, or with a girl....whatever....then my teeth would feel weird, I would feel around for the loose tooth, then pull it out with my fingers.

I wore braces for 7 years as a kid so I always thought I had the dreams because of the amount of time I had my braces. Perhaps I am just really protective of them and would hate to lose any. However, I have talked about this before to my friends, and they have similar dreams of losing their teeth. And, they didn't have braces either.

Does anyone here have similar dreams and do you know what they mean?

I have dreams where I feel like I'm grinding and clenching my teeth together so powerfully, they break and crumble. I'm sure that reveals something really disturbing about my psyche. Eh, whatever.:D

I've also had dreams were all of my teeth break into several pieces and I'm spitting them out.

Strange thing is when I was in 4 grade, I remember eating my taco salad during the school lunch. And one of my back teeth broke in half, and fell out.

In my dreams I remember exactly how that felt. I can even taste the blood in my dreams.

I remember hearing that teeth falling out in your dreams signifies that you had an embarassing moment a while ago.

GSRIDER 08-26-2003 10:08 AM

Oh do I ever have the teeth dreams. I would say at least once a week my teeth are somehow smashed, crushed or loosened or completely fallen out in my dreams. It's never painful but I am fully aware of it happening.

Now I have read that "teeth" dreams are a sign or personal growth or change in your life. Just as your teeth replace them selves as you mature.

JBX 08-26-2003 10:10 AM

Not teeth, but green peas filling a room until I was drowning in them. Arrgg HELP!

Nefir 08-26-2003 10:48 AM

Heh yea, I had a few of those.. but not recently. Usually it involves my teeth being extremely brittle and full of holes, like fragile swiss cheese. And yea, they break and fall out.

Blargh... Glad I don't get them anymore. Thats horrible.

bernadette 08-26-2003 10:57 AM

several yrs back i had to have my upper front teeth capped. during that time period i had almost nightly occurring nightmares where i'd put my hand up to my mouth & my teeth would all fall out.

once that dental process was completed, the nightmares subsided & eventually ceased. YAY!

I've had quite a few dreams where my teeth have been chipped really bad, or cracked in half.

One I had where my one tooth cracked to the nerve, and everyone was telling me that any minute it would start to hurt like mad. So I was sitting around freaking out waiting for it to start to hurt, but I woke up before it happened.

A few times after a tooth dream I wake up, and realize I'd been grinding my teeth and gums, and got them all sore.

some dream books say dreams of teeth falling out are signals of death coming to friends or family

I thind Freud (sp?) had something to say about teeth dreams but I'm too lazy to google for it. :)

An ex girlfriend of mine would have this recurring dream (about once a week) where gum would stick to her teeth and as she tried to pull the gum out of her mouth her teeth would stick to the gum and crumble away.

she absolutely hates chewing gum for some reason. :)

I had a dreams where i ground my teeth down to the pulp and it wasnt mushy it was like hard spongy marshmellows or something..not that you guys needed so much details, but yeah. I also had a few others where my mouth was full of very salty water and a few of my teeth floating around in there too...when I spat it out in the sink my teeth clanked around and went down the sink..Now thats fuct. Go fig.-Prob why I grind my teeth at night.

I've heard this too. It can also mean that you're scared of losing your teeth. It can also show the beginning of a new phase of life. It can also mean that you are worried about your self image or that kind of a dream may also signify unexpressed anxiety. There are many reasons why you might have dreams of teeth falling out, these are just some that i have heard of.

canuckguy 08-26-2003 07:58 PM

i use to have this nightmare as well, either just they would all fall out for no reason or i would crind until they crumbled. don't know why though.

"To dream that you have rotten or decaying teeth, forewarns that your health and/or business is in jeopardy. You may have uttered some false or foul words and those words are coming back to haunt you.

To dream that you are brushing your teeth, signifies your level of confidence, struggles and aggressiveness. You need to be more look out for yourself. "

Straight from a dream interpretation website.

Thats screwed. I found out it means im really grineding my teeth and needed to get a mouth gaurd. Those things are terrible to sleep with :\

fuzzix 08-27-2003 06:43 AM

I seem to be grinding my teeth alot lately...probably stress or something. As for dreaming about teeth, I've had the odd one, but not recurring, they usually happen when I'm sick and lying there in a delirious state breathing through my mouth.

HighwayStar 08-27-2003 07:17 AM

Thats odd. I don't believe that I've ever had a teeth dream. And I just went to the dentist yesterday, so it was on my mind. :|

baaa 08-27-2003 08:03 AM

I dream that I grind my teeth untill they fall out. I am afraid that I am actually grinding them.

legolas 08-27-2003 08:55 AM

Yes, it can mean a lot of things but that interpretation is a general one.

Frozen North 08-27-2003 08:57 AM

I remember some doctor saying that celebrities have this nightmare more frequently than any other. It's because thier livelihoods are dependant on how good they look to the world and losing their teeth means they can't smile. It's nothing to worry about, everyone has insecurities.

AgentX 08-27-2003 09:46 PM

When I used to wear braces I always had dreams of my teeth falling off and forming a big pile in my hands. One time the pile was a mountain of chiclets:hmm:. Also a couple times I dreamt that my front teeth started to grow hair...

-Ever- 08-28-2003 05:37 PM

I've had many reoccuring dreams about clenching my teeth so hard that they were going to bust out. The scary thing is that it feels so real that I think I might actually be clenching them. The dream is about the struggle to stop it, as if some*thing* was making my jaw clench and I just couldn't stop it...

Rodney 08-28-2003 06:28 PM

Only one tooth dream, years ago. I dreamt that I woke up in bed and had a loose tooth. So I sat up and tried to pull it free. But instead of the tooth simply pulling free, it just kept....coming. I kept pulling it out and pulling it out until I had this gigantic tusk in my hand, all yellow and stained looking. I thought, WTF?, and then I woke up.

For those who were talking about tooth dream interpretations, I was at the time in a relationship that was falling apart.

Haven't had a tooth dream since. One was enough.

Well, Freud would say that you have some sort of repressed feelings involving oral sex and your mother, but I would say it's probably stress-related.

My problem is not dreams, but that I actually do cause injury by grinding and clenching my teeth in my sleep.

yangwar 08-28-2003 06:36 PM

It's so odd that so many of us have such strong feelings associated with our teeth. I have teeth daydreams sometimes. I'll just be walking somewhere and all of a sudden feel a terrible sensation in my mouth. It feels like someone's just smashed all my teeth in but strangely, it doesn't hurt.

*Nikki* 08-28-2003 06:44 PM

This is so awesome.

I dream all the time that mine are falling out. It is so terrible. I wake up and I am so concerned it wasn't a dream!

I didn't know anyone else went through this!

Akira 08-29-2003 07:56 AM

I've only dreamed that my teeth were falling out twice, once I just started spitting them out, the other time I got punched in the face and they kept falling out.

frogger27 08-30-2003 07:35 PM

I had a reoccuring dream that I would feel one of my teeth get loose. I pulled it out and thought that ok i can like with out a tooth. But then they all fall out and I spit them out. The last one I had I ran to my mom (in the dream) and said help all my teeth fell out! she goes no they didn't. I spit out all the teeth that fell out and then realized that I still had all my teeth. I haven't had a dream about my teeth falling out since then.
