What is your school known for?
Almost every college is known across the country for some reason or another, aside from academics. What's your college's special thing?
I go to Skidmore, in Upstate NY. Aside from having some of the nicest dorms (#6 in the country, Princeton Review), we're also #1 "reefer madness" in Princeton Review's party category. Also, I believe my school ranks somewhere in the top 5 "Playboy's hottest college". Anyone else have some fun college facts? |
I think WSU was #18 in party schools by Playboy 2002... but yeah, this school is known as the party school in Washington :)
|
Mine is known for its excellent Broadcast and Communication Arts department (working on a major for radio and televizzle -- er, I mean televsion). And the Film department is also rather impressive. It's also know for paving the way for Ethnic Studies.

If I'm still there when you get the chance to enroll, drop me a line some time! Hopefully I'll only have another year until graduation. *cross fingers* |
My school is known for having one of the best theatre, music, business, and law departments in the country.
Unfortunately, the rest of the academic areas are less than desirable, so it's a good thing 95% of my classes are in the music department or else I'd get bored really quick  Oh yeah, and we USED to be known for an awesome basketball team  EDIT: Forgot, we're also rated by some review (I think USA Today or something) as having the happiest students and as being one of the most welcoming to diversity. |
I go to Arizona State University, and according to Playboy magazine, we're the #1 Party school in the country.
Our frats also made a porn video a couple of years ago. not sure what it's called, but it was professionally made through a porn company out of Los Angeles. |

<img src =http://www.ranke-heinemann.de/australien/bilder/uni_foto/uts.jpg> if not that, maybe being the only uni in which the "grass bit" can be used to uniquely identify a section of the university. (see those trees at the bottom of the picture? thats it. there are no more grassy areas at my uni). Failing that, perhaps its the only uni with a vertical travel time. Failing all of that, the glasshouse bar perhaps ;] |

The thing that my school is known for (at least to me) is the fact that it no longer exists :)

Though I do not presently attend, Ohio State is known for rioting after football games. I had a friend in California call me after the riots in Cincinnati following the shooting of a black man. He also saw footage of rioting here in Columbus that same week and was asking if we were also experiencing civil unrest. I told him that our riots were the result of football game. Yeah, we've got our priorities right on.
