Wondering what Martha Burke says about this?

I was wondering what Ms. Burke would say about women only fitness clubs? Slim and Tone, Just for Women, and Curves are a quick few examples I've found.

They all restrict their memberships to women only, and from the articles I found (google search: "women only fitness clubs") they seem to have logical, defensible reasons for doing so.

I'm just wondering, men seem to get some exercise in an environment they desire at Augusta, and women get some exercise in an environment they prefer at such gyms.

So I'm just wondering, Ms. Burke, why the double standard? Is one double standard vs. another a "two wrongs make a right" kind of situation? I just don’t know.

Thoughts?

Who gives a flying rats ass about what that wench thinks. Obviously not too many folks, judgin by the response she got at Augusta.

Personally, I think its good to have male only and female only venues. I wonder why you don't often hear of men wanting to get into women's organizations, only the other way around?

I think a few people, with an agenda, are doing their best to make life miserable for a lot of people. There are all sorts of reasons for having men only or women's only facilities. Some of the extremes that people have gone to, perhaps only to get their fifteen seconds of fame, but for whatever reason have no credibility what-so-ever. There are hundreds of examples of this that surface every day. The dude that sued Hooters for example -what did he hope to accomplish? Women's rights were too long denied in this country - to that there is no argument, but; at what point do they stop? It makes you kind of wonder if even women approve of some of the things being done in the name of women's rights. People should be judged on their own abilities and what they are capable of doing - not because of being born an X or a Y.

Nice responses here. I always wondered if these women's groups take into account whether or not what they are protesting actually does the average woman any good. Instead of railing against all things deemed to be non-inclusive that 99% of women don't care about, perhaps their focus should be on issues women's education, women's health care, etc. Maybe they do all these things, and only the protest stuff makes the news. But I think Martha's group would be better served to focus its energy on broad issues.

You're right on the money with this. I think some of the protest groups go after high-profile targets just to get the publicity. I guess there are benefits and drawbacks to such a strategy, but personally I think its better to go after more tangible and pressing issues than waste time on insignificant things that are more symbolic than anything else.

I think Martha Burke is a moron. There have always been all male and all female establishments. There is nothing wrong with either one. If I could make my own private club the only way a woman would be able to visit would be if she sucked the dick of every male member.

The only reason that bitch made a big deal about the Masters was because it's a huge event and she wants attention. Screw her. I can't belive the media gave her any air time. After she gets rid of all male esatblishments is she gonna get rid of all female ones too? Get rid of all black colleges next? She needs to shut the fuck up.

"broad issues."

Was that a pun?
