Nothing worse...

I just got back from the dentist. :( It turns out I have four cavities, which just appeared in 6 months! That's more than I've had the first 18 years of my life? The dentist and helper really lectured me, and now I'm so frustrated I could spit. I guess I'll start flossing. :( To those who neglect their teeth, get to work!

How many cavities do you have?

I've had a root canal done, no intention of going through that again. I've also had a tooth extracted because after about 5 years, I'd given up all hope of it ever coming through. Now I've probably got to have some of my wisdom teeth out (but not all, gotta even things up).

All this by the ripe old age of 20 :(

I bought the "Sonicare" toothbrush...it is pretty nice. I would suggest trying that...

SecretMethod70 08-18-2003 07:42 AM

hmmm....it's been a bit...I should go again....I drink a lot of pop :(

Going tomorrow for my regular 6 month check up.

Gotta go every 6 months!

I have 6 cavities. The worst thing ever was having the old ones removed, and replace. By removal, that's drilling them out. I couldn't have had more gas at that time!

Actually, when I was 10, my two front teeth were knocked out by a line drive during baseball practice. I've been through three root canals, and a few cosmetic fixes. I thought I was done with the dentist chair, at least for awhile.

I'll be having my Wisdom Teeth removed sometime next year. I almost had to have an extraction when I was younger but a few days after I heard about it the tooth "magically" grew.

RoadRage 08-18-2003 09:05 AM

I don't know. I haven't been to a dentist since 1992.

I've had about 6 cavities over the years. My biggest dental problem though is that my teeth come down directly on each other. You're supposed to have a slight overbite so that the teeth don't come into contact so forcefully all the time.

So, I'll probably end up having very erroded teeth unless I get oral surgery sometime soon. ugh... not looking forward to that.

:) i love my sonicare...but it didnt' stop me from having 4 cavities this past year....

I have THE worst teeth. Not that I let them go... but I cannot go to the dentist with out 2 or 3 cavities.

I quit drinking pop/soda/coke cause 10 years ago a dentist said "teath, soda, teeth, soda... you make the choice" seriously. I have weak enamal or something.

Just last week a huge filling fell out... all I'm thinking is root canal #2.

thankfully I have dental insurance and wife who will not let me forget I need to go to the dentist.

Many years ago my sister was a dental assistant and for my birthday she brought me into her dentist. This was right after a "wanderlust" stint of about 5 years. I had 27 cavities. All of them filled that day, 4 hours in the chair. I think it took my sister a couple years to pay for it... with employee discount.

I have tons of fillings - grew up with non-fluoridated well water - and several baby teeth still hanging in there. Two of these baby teeth - molars - have developed cavities UNDER the fillings. There's no way to deal with them that won't just demolish the teeth, so my only options right now are implants, which aren't covered by insurance, or bridges, which mean having the teeth on either side ground down for supporting crowns. Blech. Either way, sounds like a lot of pain and a lot of money. Maybe I'll just let them fall out and deal with them then.

Crowns/bridges suck.... What sucks is after they grind em down they put a temp bridge in... and its really wierd. But once the real deal comes in they just yank the temp off and holy shit... that cool breaze touched that ground down tooth and bammmm... ti hurts .

So then they shove the new crown on and oh... it doesn't fit so they yank it off... this will happen about 10 times as they shape the crown to fit "just right"

28 years and not a one. It's not like I take great care of my teeth. Just lucky I suppose. One of my sisters is the same way.

Well, I just went in for my regular check up and it turns out that I'm cavity free. Yippie! When I did have a cavity about a year or two ago, it came as a total surprise since I make the most effort to keep my teeth clean.

Ok, sometimes I get too tired and fall alseep without brushing beforehand, but I do it as soon as I get out of bed, so I don't know how I ended up with a cavity last time.

Troublebot 08-18-2003 12:26 PM

Very few cavities. Plus, my wisdom teeth came in nice and straight, so my dentist said there was no reason to mess with them.

I figure it makes up for the braces I had in fourth grade.

MSD 08-18-2003 12:40 PM

3, 2 done years ago and the third last year without any anaesthetic (sp?)

baaa 08-18-2003 12:44 PM

the last two times that I went to the dentist I had a cavity. I have come to the conclosion that my dentist causes cavities. I will never go again.

in reference to that photo...
i believe that in ancient japan (i´m thinking perhaps edo period) to have ones teeth painted black was a sign of marriage, and of social standing.
but something tells me this lovely lady just hasn´t had the luxury of decent teeth care.

i´ve had a few cavities in my time, but these days i take good care of my teeth.
