What did you do when the power was off?

So what did you guys do during the outage? My List:

1. Played the ELECTRIC guitar w/o an amp, got kinda old fast.
2. Dug out old board games and played with my family, kicking ass at monopoloy is cool :D
3. Touch football with some neighbors while there was still light. 8 year olds and bad hand-eye coordination dont mix.
4. Read some books. Dont know if any of you have tried it, but reading a book via superbright LED light is pretty tough.
5. Talked on the phone for an hour or so. feel like a girl now. jk :D

It's good to hear that the lil blackout didn't get yah down! Sounds like you had more fun than I did on the web ;)

Nefir 08-16-2003 09:08 AM

Fooled around with my new tripod, took some crazy 15 second exposure shots of cars passing outside my window (no good came out of this :D).

Ate all the ice cream in the fridge.

Listened to my iPod until the batteries died, then listened to a freebie radio that I won once. Never thought I'd find a use for that radio...

FastShark85 08-16-2003 09:52 AM

Washed the car with water from the kiddie pool.

i8one2 08-16-2003 09:58 AM

ironically, my streets transformer caught fire that night, so I hung out with all my roomies, and took one out to eat a killer hot dog place called SPIKES, came home and slept.

nothingx 08-16-2003 11:30 AM

Let's see... since I'm just a bit south of all that, the power only dimmed here, but never went out. I spent the rest of the night thinking about how crazy it is that we, as a society, have become so dependent on electricity. Then, afterward, I started thinking about how the black out affected just the north eastern tip of the country and how the rest of the country probably doesn't give a rat's ass that the power went out.

forseti-6 08-16-2003 11:38 AM

I just walked around NYC. Talking to random people...

Fifteen Short 08-16-2003 11:46 AM

Yup, Im west coast. So I didnt get effected in the least. But I heard about it on Spanish TV while I was rewinding Agent Cody Banks (Dont ask...) And was wondering why the hell people were just walking down the freeway. Then I followed it via newscasts. So, powers back up though? Thats good, blackouts are annoying.

absorbentishe 08-16-2003 06:39 PM

I was at work and in the middle of a jerk, kind of lost the interest in the dark.

asshopo 08-16-2003 06:52 PM

We (wife, kids, and myself) went down to the neighbors where they had a generator. We had cold pop, hot food, fans galore, and a 60in tv with dvd player kicken. We stayed the night, like hell was I going to go home to sweat my ass off in bed :) 13 people in that house, and we all slept comfortably with 12 or so fans.

punx1325 08-16-2003 07:00 PM

I sat on the couch, watched tv, and thanked god I wasn't in that situation. Thank you Gray Davis for keeping the lights on at a high price....I hope your recalled!

Glad-I-Ate-Her 08-16-2003 08:36 PM

Not a whole lot. It was too damn hot. I just hung out and talked to people I've seen but never talked to. In certain instances it was OK but other, damn some weird people out there.

I cleaned out my fridge today and dumped stuff I didn't remember I had!! I guess that was a good thing.

Yay for AC's!!

Glad

heehee 08-17-2003 10:38 AM

Listened to the radio until it died at 10pm, than fell asleep.

bparker805 08-17-2003 11:58 AM

I watched TV. It was a great day to live on the West Coast.

Kaos 08-17-2003 12:03 PM

Took a nap, woke up and went to a friend's place and BBQ'd some burgers that would have gone bad, then went swimming.

JumpinJesus 08-17-2003 01:10 PM

I stood in the middle of the throngs of people leaving the subway stations and shouted, "Soylent Green is made from people! It's peeeeeoooppppllllllllllllllllllleee!!!"

Nice!!!

I walked to a friends house, which caused nice massive blisters on my poor feet. Luckly we were only out of power for about 4 hours.

Darkblack 08-18-2003 08:02 AM

I thought this would have turned into a masturbation thread by now....

neoinoakleys 08-18-2003 08:37 AM

Well, I went home picked up my wife, and headed over to a friend's house for BBQ. We ate hamburgers and hot dogs and the like...then got up and headed home.

Wife and I made wild passionate love...(what else is there to do??) then tired ourselves out and fell asleep.

Next morning, had another round...fell asleep again. Woke up and TAH-DAH....we had power...

We need to have these power outs more often...:-)

legolas 08-18-2003 09:58 AM

I was so bored... just hung out with my gf until she left then i went to my friends house who has a pool and drank a little.

s8ins child 08-18-2003 10:11 AM

rockogre 08-18-2003 11:47 AM

How many babies will be born nine months from now?

C'mon, fess up, you all had wild, sweaty, monkey sex the whole time.

Buzz 08-18-2003 09:43 PM

Came home and watched the news of the black out... We still had power in Maine....

grumpyolddude 08-18-2003 10:14 PM

Thursday night: the never ending Uno game from hell, by candlelight, natch.
Friday am: sleep of the dead
Friday afternoon: malling up in Flint (can't believe I'm admitting this!).
Friday night: read until sleep mercifully took me.
The power came on @ 12:30 am. I was sawing logs.
Saturday am: Go clean up the mess at work.

Fozzie_Bear 08-18-2003 11:33 PM

watch the birthrate spike in nine months, and the question is answered.

siogo 08-19-2003 01:13 AM
